Map leak: sealed map with no entities. (fixed, sorta)

For the love of all that is holy, how the **** can a map leak when its sealed and there are no ****ing entities inside the bloody map...???!!!

 

And if its not that Im getting an error I have never seen before " ERROR: Entity 1 has surfaces, but no name key "

 

[update] Its possible not having the playerstart entity was partly responsible for this, but I'm not 100% sure. As for the other issue, well it seems DR in conjunction with 1.08 dosen't populate the mod_base field, and atm I cant remember if it did in 1.07 either. But what i do remember is that DR on a fresh install would work just fine, it didnt need anything extrra doing beyond you telling it where doom3 was.

I meant to post this in the editing section, but I am so ****ed of atm.

 

There are NO entities in the map, I was going to test the map for internal leaks, so its just brushes nothing else. By all rights it should not leak there is nothing for it to leak on.

 

I'm going to firstly nuke my DR prefs, then going back to an earlier version of DR then TDM 1.07 to find out WTF is going on here!

 

[edit] Ok nuked my DR prefs, all the textures in my map have become unknown. Ok found otu the for some reason DR isnt populating the mod_base feild like Im sure it used too, so installing DR from scratch on the laptop to see whats what.

If one of the Brushes has a spawnarg like noshadows, a leak can happen. You also need a playerstart or an error occurs afaik.

Agreeded, but fyi you only need one brush to have an arg applied and then "Any" brush will show that arg, all the world brush is fine. I could sworn you could dmap a map with out the playerstart, but its not normally something I would do.

 

The reason Im doing the old leak test in the first place is because the sound zone from an internal location is playing when the player is outside and a VP thats directly above it is doing the old "Im closed when I'm not" bullshit. And the zone mentioned above dosent leak.... aaaaarrrfggghh...

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
