TDM 2.0 Cannot start [solved]

Dear All,

I cannot start TDM 2.0, because it says:

root@JESSIE-K55VD:/home/ptoth/TheDarkMod# ./thedarkmod.x86

./thedarkmod.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I Googled the problem as much as I could:

My params: ASUS K55VD

1, uname -a: 3.10-3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.10.11-1 (2013-09-10) x86_64 GNU/Linux

2, TDM version: 2.0

3, I already installed libtxc-dxtn0 package from debian-multimedia repo (As Debian.org recommends)

4, I have the latest version from both libxxf86dga1 and libxxf86vm1 (devel packages are not installed)

Thanks for any help from you!

ptoth

It looks like your folder name for the mod is TheDarkMod. It has to be named simply darkmod, all lower case. We've tried to make that information easily accessible but since there was a huge demand on our servers at first, some may have missed those directions about the folder name.

Try renaming the folder to darkmod, hopefully that will fix the issue.

I've installed libxxf86dga-dev, libxxf86dga1, libxxf86vm-dev, libxxf86vm1 packages from the debian testing branch.

libxxf86vm1 version: 1:1.1.3-1

libxxf86dga version: 2:1.1.4-1

Which version do you have? Do I have to install it from the SID branch?

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
