TDM Frequently Crashes Downloading Missions

Thought I might as well post up the results of my latest attempt to download a mission, "Crucible of Omens: Behind closed doors". I ran up tdm, went straight to the in-game downloader, selected CoO:Bcd for download, and left it running ... came back to find the game crashed. Here's the console transcript:

I'm guessing all the messages from therats are from the previously loaded game, The Rats Triumphant (excellent mission, BTW).

 

The download seems to have been aborted (I did see it at 70% at one point when I looked in to see how the download was getting on) because there's no sign of it in my fms directory. I'll delete the currentfm.txt file and try again... and it worked!

 

Well, that's interesting. Maybe the moral is to unload the previous missing before trying to download missions? Dunno, mission download has been pretty flakey for me in the past.

Bumping this topic again. I ran tdm_update.linux and deleted the currentfm.txt file, just to make sure. Queued up a number of maps for download ... and down it goes:

Ok, I tried downloading missions one at a time, and it's a bit more reliable ... but there's something very dodgy about "Crucible of Omens: Behind Closed Doors".

 

It's offered for download, despite the fact I've already got it ... perhaps an update, though the downloader doesn't say so. I did the following:

 

1. Selected it (by itself) for download after downloading a number of other missions. Game crashed again.

2. Found a complete bcd_l10n.pk4 file (20182 bytes) in the fms directory, but nothing else.

3. Restarted tdm, selected CO:BCD for download again.

4. Jumps straight to 10% download, then sticks on 10.4%

5. I leave it for about 10 minutes, no change.

6. Exit tdm via Back and Exit buttons

7. Control is returned to screen ... but game does not complete exit for at least another two minutes!

8. There's a partially downloaded _bcd.pk4 file in fms (991567 bytes)

 

When the game finally did exit, it crashed:

Ok, one last attempt. Moved my fms/bcd directory out of the way, and this time the download succeeded. However, there's one interesting little detail:

WTF? So why did the downloader offer this for download in the first place?

 

I beg you, add some form of knowledge of mission checksum to the downloader. I have mentioned this before with little to no traction.

Same Problem for me, problems with downloading following missions:

  • Crucible of Omens: Behind closed doors
  • Thief's Remorse

The first one always stopped always at about 30%. Had to hard kill tdm.

After downloading some other missions, suddenly everything went fine.

 

Not sure, what informations are necessary to investigate more.
