Darken an area

Recommended Posts

Thanks, nbohr1more.

We can create light sources on the fly: shoot a projectile, bang, lit up an area for limited time. I wonder if we can create an anti-light source in a similar way, to temporally darken a corner in example. Crazy stuff.

I am not yet familiar with setLightParms. I have so far been trying to understand how ambient_world, location_settings and info_location work.

Before I start wasting my time, do you, experienced people, think anything convincing could be achieved?

This exact behaviour can be created using a blendLight using the blend filter blend mode.

The light becomes a volume which simply multiplies (darkens) its projected texture with the texture of contained objects, almost like a 3D volumetric decal.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion: TDM team might benefit from someone with actual QA experience; someone with naturally and professionally developed curiosity, who is interested in how and why things work, how they break At least to me it's kind of mind-boggling how untested some rather important features are (first the absence alert feature for items, now the rope +body carry behavior).

Bumped into an interesting piece of wisdom called Hyrum's Law:
With a sufficient number of users of an API, it does not matter what you promise in the contract: all observable behaviors of your system will be depended on by somebody.

I love playing The Dark Mod when it's cold in my place. Bonus points when it's a bit (or even very) dark and it's raining, too.
