Wacky Origin

Recommended Posts

The model lights/extinguishable/hlamp.lwo has an origin WAY outside the visible model. This wound up costing me some time as it caused a leak in my map that I couldn't track down.

I suspect the same thing could happen to other people, so I would like to move the model so the origin is somewhere that makes sense. Problem is, this is a popular model and it will no doubt mess up a lot of maps.

Another option is just creating a new version of the map (which has the added benefit of allowing me to name it properly) and we could move the existing model to a map_specific folder (so mappers could just do a text search and replace).

Opinions?

Make mappers suffer. Sorry, but this is the type of thing we should clean before release, and having a map specific will only add to the mess.

I agree, sure it might be a kick in the dick and balls for mappers, but in the long run we'll be glad its fixed.

I agree. And I agree with this in all fixes, even if they are pretty small. It's only post 1.0 that I think we should consider some nicer friendly fixes for such things.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.
