    Thief 4

This thread should be deleted, there is no such thing as Thief 4.
  2. So they do take community input seriously...
  3. I think four of the team members are those who worked on Thief games. Tim Stellmach and Steve Pearsall are on board, which is kind of big deal.
  4. Overlook Manor is my favourite mission in Deadly Shadows. It's awesome.
  5. Nope, they took inspiration from TDM.
  6. First there should be Thief 4. I mean Thief 4 as in an actual sequel to the original series, not a spin-off reboot. Thief2014 is not part of the original canon, The original Thief series is still a trilogy and I'm waiting for continuation. As for who should make it and how it should be. I don't know who, but it should be a PC game.
  7. How glad I am Russell wasn't part of this! The petition was such a horrible idea.
  8. Do you really believe listening to fans would have made a better game? The developers were aware enough of what the fans though was the best way for a Thief sequel to be, they knew it themselves well enough and could have done it if they had the freedom... which they had not. You are always bound to restrictions in life and everybody in a different way. Indie devs have the freedom to make the game they want, but are restricted in budget, work force, etc. Big companies have the money and the force, but are restricted by the requirement to address to a customer base, or a target group, target platform, or whatever there is. Thief (4) never had a chance. It was born at the wrong time, in the wrong barn. Human Revolution was just a bit luckier.
  9. Nothing changes the fact that the Thief franchise was officially defiled, after Deadly Shadows...
  10. Oh lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjoFaIT3030
  11. Looking Glass is spinning in its grave.
  12. You're wrong I'm afraid. It's not the same.
  13. Uninstalling the game should fix the problems.
  14. This game is not fun at all. I really tried to like it, but stealth isn't fun, stealing isn't fun, movement and interaction mechanics aren't fun. Nothing is any fun. Only things I liked is the level design, the view on the city from atop and sometimes the music has some Thief like element to it. Otherwise... not fun. Edit: Not fun at all.
  15. Why didn't tell earlier. Just played Glenham and Transaction the past two days. Went by upload time on the TDM mission download page, so I thought, Glenham was first. So I take this is 2.0 compatible? Because the Transaction that I downloaded two days ago doesn't load quicksaves in 2.0 for me. Best would be if you packed them all as one campaign, so that the next mission is loaded in order right after completion of the previous without you installing them all separately. Otherwise thatnks for the nice missions, I am enjoying them a lot.
  16. I played this mission with the standalone release. Was quite good, had a good evening. Hiding in the closet felt like Amnesia, hehe. What I think would have been really cool; When you destroyed the vessel and this killed the zombies. The fog actually made me think that the zombies got vaporized and their dust filled the rooms, making it really creepy, but empty. The lying corpses made it clear that this was not the case. I think it would have been very atmospheric and a nice finish if the destruction of the zombies would turn them to dust and the dust would fill the rooms and douse the fires, so you end up in a building that is really dead and empty, suddenly in a split second no lights, no creatures inside it, just emptiness as if it was never real, like a bad dream you just woke up from and you walk through the hallways barely believing this was even real.
  17. Congratulations. A milestone for TDM!
  18. Thief 4 will be a nice "story mode", modding is for Dark Mod.
  19. Realistically you would kinda "lock on" the lock like in Thief 3, means being really close to the lock facing it, but realistically you could rotate around the lock with the strafe keys until you hit a physical barrier, like bumping into the wall with your shoulder, so that you'd basically look parallel to the door, still facing the lock close on. Then you could still look around with your free head turn like in Thief 3, but unlike Thief 3 could look away from the door because of the repositioning and basically cover any angle. Thief 3 has a more realistic representation of lockpicking in general (very close to the lock, can look around), but Thief 1,2,TDM allow you to reposition yourself. A perfect system would combine both. The inability to look around without to stop the process was always my biggest gripe with old Thief and TDM. Also in Thief you could pick the lock from a weird angle and from too far away. TDM limits the range, but still has the inability to turn around.
  20. Dark Mod's lockpicking is great, but I like lockpicking in Thief 3 without HUD most, imo the best lockpicking system a game has ever seen.
  21. Awesome mission. I had a blast to play it. Problems I had where I could grab loot from closed compartments, or at least I had the "ching" sound.
  22. Look, in most games that I played you push the key down and the function is performed (jump, crouch, etc), either you instantly release the key or keep it pushed if you like, the action was performed already. In TDM you push the key down and nothing happens, you can keep it pressed and nothing will ever happen, because the function is performed when you release the key. Perhaps this has a reason, to make the crouch less twitchy, but it feels off, when I want to crouch I want to push the key and to do the action on push, not release. Anyway, this has little to do with the FM, so I will probably address this thing in an appropriate thread later.
  23. I use the toggle. What I mean is that you hold the crouch key down and it does nothing, only when you release you crouch down. Likewise if you are crouched and press and hold the key it does nothing, only when you release it you stand up. Maybe it makes sense, I don't mind to have a slower crouch/stand up if it is more realistic or maybe it's sort of a safety so when you press the key and a haunt walks in, you can keep it held, and remain crouched until the haunt walks buy, but I still think the function should be triggered by the key press, not release.
  24. Awesome mission! Thanks for this. I love the sparkling stars on the night sky, always love realistic night sky, but the stars could have been slightly smaller, they looked a bit too large. The texture-modded sky in Thief 1 is probably the best night sky I've seen in games, more realistic than Crysis and whatnot. Dark mod works so well, it always does what I want it to do. Climbing is reliable, etc. Except that crouching and standing up should probably be on key press, not key release. Oh btw, I had quite the frame rate drop on the roof facing the mill to the north east, then I climbed up the window. Appeared only a couple of times later in the game. Maybe it was something on my end.
