Candlelight issue

Hey All,

 

I've got an issue with the small stub candle light. It's all working fine except when I extuinguish the

light, it puts the candle out, but the light still remains as a burning light, even if the candlestick is

thrown onto other side of room. How do I fix this?

 

I did it by choosing movable/candleholder and the small stubby candle, then selecting the actual

candle in models/lights/extinguishable/candle_default.iwo. I chose the light in entities/lights/lightsources/candleflames/light_candleflame.

 

It has me a bit stumped. lol

Have you attached a script object to the candle holder (if it is a custom entity)?

What are you trying to do? Are you trying to make a unique entity or just add a regular candle to your map? If the latter, you don't need to select the candle and light separately.

Hey,

 

No, no scripts. I'm just adding one of the TDM stock models and candles and lit light source. I don't know enough about TDM or DR yet to create my own stuff. I used to

though in Quake 3 a long long time ago.

Hi venus,

 

the "scriptobject" is a spawnarg on the entity, that selects a pre-made script object. You don't need to write their own.

 

Light holders like candle holders, or even just candles, use this one:

It is responsible for toggling the light and shadows on and off - f.i. a candle flame consists of a light and a particle and is attached to a candle stump.

 

As Springheel said, there are already pre-made entities, so you probably just need to use one of these.

Don't use models. You want to add a new entity, go to lights/movable/candle/in-holder (or something close to that) and place one of them. Everything is added for you automatically.

      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
