I also agree. With the limited time you have as an adult, I usually play games only once anyway. And then I rather have a great game with the intention of only being played once than a game that requires several runs to expereince it wholly. The same is true for length. I rather play a great but short game than a mediocre (or right now even good) game that requires me to play it for 100s of hours. The ingame chores for gamelength sake that peter_spy mentioned make it even worse. I often have completionist tendencies, which I have to actively repress in these cases.

Still waiting for a new Soul Reaver game, hell I would even be happy with a full remake of the series. Highly unlike that either will ever happen, but a man can dream...

Thanks. I got it working by jumbling things a bit with phononsettings and re-selecting my pulseaudio device. I tried switching phonon backend from VLC to gstreamer, to no avail, and back again. Also, in pulseaudio mixer I tried switching from stereo to 2.1 and back. Next thing I know, TDM is making it to the speakers again.

If you want an adventure, build TDM from sources, including all third-party libraries. Perhaps rebuilt OpenAL would work for you.

New motherboard, new audio chip.
