  1. Here are three new screenshots from The Accountant! First one is a poor mans apartment room, second one is still a WIP and the third.. well that may peak your curiosity
  2. How do you stop NPC's from doing this? The NPC starts off with the "sleeping 1" spawnarg however he sleeps through the bed... I have tried moving him upto a higher starting position and I have placed a monster clip around the bed but neither seem to make a difference. Is there a trick to this madness?
  3. edit: ok I got it sorted. Turns out my file system was out of place for my maps which explains why the sound was working but the maps wasn't. Thanks for your help man!
  4. I just tried it with a completely different stereo file and same problem happened.. nothing played. What did you do step by step to get the stereo file working? as i'm guessing my problem lies with all stereo files not just this one
  5. Well its supposed to play when you enter this area. I have set this up before and it works fine but for whatever reason it doesn't want to work here. The only thing I haven't done is test another stereo file to see if the problem is with that file or just stereo files. I will do this and report back
  6. Well I have tried creating a speaker with just that sound attached and once again it plays perfectly fine in DR and I even selected it from the list so that rules out misspelling and yeah no problems but as soon as I run DM and boot up my map the sound does nothing... God this is really weird :S The file is 44100khz stereo ogg vorbis 160kbs According to the wiki that is the right file type for it. What did you have yours set as?
  7. It's definitely encoded as vorbis and it even plays in the Dark Radiant editor. I just cannot get it to play playing the game though it's really weird. Every other file works fine and the only difference I can think of is the fact that it's stereo instead of mono. Have you ever managed to get a stereo file working?
  8. Thank you!!! That works perfectly Now I have a seperate issue though with a sound file not playing. Is there anything special that needs to be done to get a Stereo Ogg file to play? All of my other sound files work great but for some reason if I play it using the speaker thing it doesn't work and it doesn't work for the info_location sound thingy (whatever its called). I'm guessing I am missing something extra that needs to be done as this is the first file I have had to use that wasn't mono because the stereo clip of it is much better.
  9. So I am having some problems with my custom sounds and folders and I was wondering where I made a mistake here. So I used to have all of my sounds in "c:\games\darkmod\sound\" but now I moved them into the actual map folder as I want everything to be all in one so my sound folder is currently "c:\games\darkmod\maps\a\sound\" I fixed it up in Dark Radiant so everything works fine as at the start it didn't but I don't know how to change the folder in Dark Mod is there something special I need to do? tl;dr my custom sounds work in Dark Radiant but not when I test the map in The Dark Mod Thanks in advance!
  10. I used to play Thievery a lot with a friend and one day I decided to look up how it was doing and sadly the community has really died down for it but then I stumbled across a post about The Dark Mod and after seeing one gameplay video on youtube I knew I had to download it and haven't looked back since! I had no idea how this slipped under my radar for so long but I am glad it did as when I found TDM there were 60+ missions available. Was this project originally called Nightblade btw? I remember reading something about a next-gen Thief called that many years ago but I think it was meant to be unreal engine based.
  11. Hey I don't know how many of you guys are audio pros (i'm a complete newbie when it comes to this sort of stuff) but basically I am looking to put a couple of hundred dollars into getting a nicer sound. I have talked with a friend of mine and he recommended the following which look great and I was wondering if anyone had any input or understanding on the matter. I am looking basically for a microphone that can capture the bass and has pretty much no/minimum background noise. At the moment I have to use Audacity to edit out my background noise and I find that the audio quality suffers a little bit because of that. Here are the two products I had in mind. Shure SM58S microphone - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001I2DB14/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A16TJW7X82VNF TASCAM US-200 2-in/4-out USB 2.0 Audio Interface - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004OA6JV6/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Thanks!
  12. Personally I have never noticed a door problem in this game so I don't know what you're talking about. As for movement of items thats usually the first compliment this game gets on a play through and as for the sounds well that just falls down to the mapper not the engine, i'd say they didn't do the sound propagation correctly.
  13. So I have been playing with some different characters you will encounter in The Accountant and I believe I have nailed the Insane Guy down quite well. This guy lives in the same apartment house as you and you will encounter him right at the start https://soundcloud.com/tylervocals/insane-guy-test

Thank you my intention is to make that guy creepy as possible :)

@Lux yeah that problem will be solved when the final version is recorded (I use a better mic+pop filter) :D

    3. Sotha

      Sotha

Sounds like Rumplestiltskin from the tv series "once upon a time." Pretty cool, but my problem was it was difficult to understand what he is saying, so if he gives an objective to the player, maybe the speech need to be clarified a bit?

@Sotha yeah I will write the script a bit better I just had this idea for a character and decided to record something on the spot so I made up that "script" as I went along haha but it played out well. After you meet this person an optional objective will be added for the player as well

  14. Would it be possible to perhaps add categories for missions? It would be awesome to sort through via category.
  15. Moonbo I just had the chance to play the mission. Wow! You are an amazing mapper, level designer, everything! and first off ... spoiler ahead please don't read unless you have played at least half of this fantastic mission This mission so far has been so adventurous and fun and the story is amazing you are a really good writer! even when I was reading the scripts you sent me I thought that but to go through all the readables here is just fantastic. I am thoroughly impressed and I hope that your next mission features less scary elements (i'm a complete pansy when it comes to that ). Maybe a mansion mission?
  16. So I updated to TDM standalone and decided to delete the Doom3 folder and then that broke Dark Radiant. I seemed to have fixed the textures being missing problem by updating the path in the settings but I just wanted to make sure that I have done the right thing. My game folder was originally "C:/Games/Doom 3/Darkmod" however I moved the Darkmod folder upto the games folder and deleted Doom 3 so now my settings in DarkRadiant are Select a Game - Doom 3 Engine Path - C:/Games/ Mod (fs_game) - darkmod/ Mod Base (fs_game_base, optional) - [i left this blank] Are those settings ok? or do I need to change something else to avoid problems down the track? Thanks!
  17. Yay the accountant seems to be working perfectly in TDM 2.0.. Also fantastic job on that guys! The game feels so much better to play now :D

Nice! Looking forward to playing it when it comes out:-).

  18. The way I hold my moral compass is I treat others the way they treat me I think religion is a whole different ball of wax. I personally don't believe in religion or atheism I just believe it is an irrelevant thing topic to being a person and it certainly doesn't control your morals. People forget that morals have always been with us it wasn't like raping/stealing/murder etc was ok then all of a sudden religion came along and people went "oh yeah maybe that is really bad to do" we all have this internal feeling that tells us whats right or wrong and it's upto us if we ignore it or follow it. As for the stealing aspect, I love the idea of breaking into a place and stealing everything and sneaking through the shadows and never being caught BUT I would never do that in the real world because that is a horrible thing to do to another person and I wouldn't want that to happen to me so I wont do it to others. Luckily we can explore our more darker thoughts and desires inside a computer game which does no harm to anyone!
  19. And the second problem arrives.. how the hell does this thing work? I can see many hours going down the drain trying to figure it out.
  20. Does anyone know how you change the value of a spawn arg using a trigger? I thought I once saw something in the entities list describing that but I can't seem to find it again. Thanks in advance! edit: Or perhaps there is an easier solution to what i'm trying to do. I'm trying to push a door in two different directions one after the other. So it's like this W = Wall D = Door WW D WW | D | -> D ----> D So the door moves down and then left. I figured I need to just use a trigger which waits and then at the right time changes the translate/rotate properties however I don't know if thats the best way.
