  2. It looks better than current one, but you should animate the cloth too so it doesn't look like glued to legs. Also I'm sure that clipping can be avoided?
  3. So that's how it works. Now we need to fix the animation rig. I will need help with that, so if everybody's busy with other stuff I'll pass on to other things.
  4. Ok, I uploaded horse with all shadow meshes. I painted some soft shadows on saddle, but not on rug or horse. I assume those 4 models: horse, rug, saddle and bridle will be separate and joined via attachment system? I don't know how it works on our existing NPCs.
  5. Yes, I've added more folding yesterday: Saddle and rug don't cast shadows yet, I have to make shadow meshes. As for ambient occlusion, I need to read more about it.
  6. Thanks Well, I'm using diffuse + normal (highpoly model + heightmap) + specularmap. Are you talking about some other technique I possibly not know about?
  7. I see rug's height map file was broken? Anyway I combined all three height maps with normal maps using ATI's normalmapper. Maybe we should keep normal map (with basic folds) and height map (with little details) of rug separate. It's easier to change only height map if someone wants to edit the texture. I also added some more detail to the rug and more distinctive folds.
  8. Thanks. I first made highpoly model of horse using mainly sculpting and then converted it to low poly. Saddle, rug and bridle where done in a traditional way - first proper, low poly models than sculpting.
  9. Horse model with full gear is now on SVN. I've just discovered addnormals so I made three heightmaps additionally to normalmaps for horse, rug and saddle. I've read of some ATI program that can combine normalmaps and heightmaps so I might check it later. Four or six new bones will probably be needed to animate the rug but now it doesn't look that bad. I still need to make shadowmeshes.
  10. I have Radeon x1950 and it can't display either animated sky or textures with transparency (depending on which catalyst driver I use).
  11. This new hair is to problematic I'm afraid, it will have to go. I've been working on some horse tack. Still lot to do.

  13. I modified the horse model. I've added separate mane. It's using blend filter method. You can see it moving independently which is nice but i doesn't look very good from rider's position. There's also clipping caused by bad random head turning. I also darkened the texture around the butt.
  14. I don't know if I will ever work in game industry but the mod has already affected my career path. I showed a movie with the horse at my company in which I had a job copletely unrelated to art and two months ago they decided to give me a graphic designer job. Now I design layouts for web applications, icons, logos, etc. Putting my real name in credits might be a good idea So, please change it to: Marcin "Arcturus" Twarowski.

  16. But this gesture doesn't even look like wiping dirt from hand (I suppose that's what the character's doing?). It could be skipped in my opinion.

  19. New idle animation is better than old one but now hands are going through body on thug and builder:
  20. In my opinion current animation is too short, arms are swinging to much and whole character is moving to smoothly. Normally body makes small, random movements trying to keep balance while standing. Current idle could be renamed to idle_swinging or something.
