  1. I vote Xarg as a beta tester even above me.... Oh wait ahh I do have an AMD system here a 7850k or some thing but I still vote Xarg because he is Cool and a legend and still needs something more than an 830M laptop.... Am I right ?
  2. Yes BUT sadly I will not be posting an assessment of my initial playthrough until some time after I manage to download the map. I'm on restricted bandwidth due to my isp being ass%$#ls and throttling bandwidth so, 23% now and hopfully later today or tomorrow I will bug test and give some feed back. For now I'm reading through the Beta test thread and am anxious to playtest. I'm thinking I should play on easiest first then medium and hard. Would you like me to or should I just go Medium and Expert?
  3. I have limited band width at the moment but on a good note it is free.
  4. I've been thinking of getting Alien Isolation for a couple weeks now so what's it like and what bugs are you running in to?
  5. I think your wrong. TDM using the IDTECH 4 engine is Stand alone and now as I understand it has nothing to do with Doom3. Am I wrong?
  6. Exactly. This is why TDM is fantastic and will only get better and why I LOVE it. Because the developers and mappers are doing it because they LOVE doing it and there are no real time frames or hidden agendas (only in the missions)hehe, Meaning only those things in life that we are passionate about have our true interest of time. I played thief 2 TMA way before I played thief 1 TDP although I seem to recall a demo I may have played, and I have to say I prefer T2 over T1 only because of the engine enhancements enabling larger environments and better graphics and the more sandbox type feel of T2, Having said that I think the plots and stories in T1 are better realised in the story telling. All in all T2 is still my #1 game of all time except for DeusX and Carmageddon and Leisure suit Larry LFS and .....Sorry Melan still not fully ok with T2 What tha da bcvh ##@^ mmmmah oh ok.
  7. G'day peoples, If you guy's are still after someone I can feed back some tests. If not I am looking forward to playing it.
  8. I had two in solarescape and I think bikerdude or someone else (sorry can't remember) in beta testing brought the issue of one door not having any indication or clue and suggested a dirty decal to show moisture entry. This worked really well. I think though that there should always be a clue somewhere in the mission if it's essential for an objective. In the end it's up to the mapper. It was probably my mission that esme was referring to as I remember even with the decal it was hard to see without using the lantern.
  9. Wow Very good conversation here. Bit late but I think it's a reasonable idea to have a new set of frames just for looting which would be easier to implement in new missions without breaking older ones? I also liked stifu's idea of a glint or sound (imagine hearing the player say :ah some extra coin for the rent or simply :ah something extra) upon longer inspection through the looking glass (not that I use it much) but this would be a huge undertaking I would think.
  10. Hay, Obbs & Geyman, Easy on the information right? I can't help but think some one here is not sharing their knowledge with the forum.
  11. Well, After reading this shite, I can only think of the prospect of my demise as an intalect; musing all possible probability on this our all and only plane of experience.
  12. Yeah, Fantastic, So Who is poaching the open source community? Hope it all turns out for the best. For my two cents or dime I think some one is out to pouch some one else. Please any one on the TDM forums and developing for the TDM project Don't Stop. The TDM project is the shiznick of open source free libre game development and IMHO is the best community bar none online in regards to everything.[Full Stop.] If anyone is offered the chance to better their lives in any way then I say More power to you; But don't forget us, The little followers that need to learn from and stand on the shoulders of the greats. So to some up: Don't forget about the small and needy populous pretty please! PS> Please provide a link and Help every one you can [1]
  13. G'day peoples, I just opened up DR and loaded my WIP on a new system. There are no textures or shaders on anything. SHADER NOT FOUND on everything? Is there a simple way to load all?
  14. Congrats Kyyrma, AB and to the beta testers. Very Holloweeny, Scary too. Had me on the edge of my seat for a few minutes. Thats the only problem, It's too short but for two weeks it's bloody awesome.
  15. Well I must say, Hats off to you Buck28 and to the beta testers. This map is well thought out, well planed and very engaging once you actually get inside and into the story. I played on the hardest difficulty and managed an enjoyable 3 or so hours. The game play really stood out with the crypt and water area. Impressive. Absolutly loved it and hope to see your third. If this is your second then WoW. Congats.
  16. Mark me down as agreed. Go ahead and make it I10n/I18n compatible, Or if charisma and her team want to convert and host I would be OK with that too, But It should really be done properly using the built in language system. Having said that I can understand why a simpler txt conversion hack would be appealing. I should have done it my self when I made it but was to lazy. My WIP at the moment is not Internationalizationed yet but I plan on making it I18n compatible. It's still only somewhere around 60% complete at the moment and yes I know it is better done as you go but as I wrote I am lazy.
  17. The system has 16G Ram so 64Bit for sure. What do you mean by Bloat, Cloud ads and stuff I will never use?
  18. Thanks to all for the input. I was looking at Debian. This is part of a recent post/review on the Distrowatch site : (The Debian GNU/Linux project is teaming up with the Free Software Foundation (FSF) and h-node to build a database of hardware that works with GNU/Linux distributions without the need for proprietary software. The Debian website has more details . It sounds interesting and obviously any feedback on hardware/software compatibility for the devs I'm sure would be appreciated. I might just go with Kubuntu to start with and see how I go, But should I go with the 32 or 64 bit version? It will be installed on 64 Bit capable hardware but the Kubuntu site recommends the 32 Bit install? All suggestions have been much appreciated so thanks to all:)
  19. Hey peoples of all creeds, Colors and status (everyone alive on the planet now who has read this:) I am thinking of installing a Unix\Linux Distribution on my system for research purposes and am wondering if any Taffers around here have any recommendations/experience? I'm looking at http://distrowatch.com/ at the moment and thinking it's not exactly the safest thing to do though I do have backup images of my system drives. It occurred to me that I might install on a USB memory stick and have a play, Just until some TDM Mods are released of course (Then I wont have any time for messing about with Linux). Any one running a Unix/Linux distro?
  20. I voted for the 2nd option (I personally prefer etc.) It is always better for the mapper to have as many options as possible layed out in frount of them. If a mapper would like to make a check point like save system in their mod and they know what their doing then it would be convenient to have the options integrated into the engine. I, m replaying bioshock infinite atm with the dlc in 1999 mode and am dying often but I know this 1999 mode difficulty is the hardest and if I permanently die well I can choose an easier difficulty but the game should have a save anytime anywhere option on easier difficulties. I say more options more better for mapper but if implemented should be save anywhere anytime on by default. My 2 bits.
  21. Thanks Goldwell, So simple doh. I was looking for something like that in the add property list. I missed it. Thanks again.
  22. Hi all, Need some help. I'm having a problem with triggering a hidden objective to visible when a certain readable is closed. If you have time and the inclination to help I would appreciate it much. Should I do it with stim\response or script. I know next to nothing about scripting, And S/R editor is confusing me but then again I am a dumb ass:)
  23. G`day Melan and others, Apple macs will run windows and have great displays but they are way overpriced and generally 2-3 generations of hardware development releases behind a Dell or Toshiba. The Alienware 14"s are good too. I think they have a 900p display. An alternative to brand names and a company that make most of the shells for the brand names is Clevo, Do a search to find a seller in your area. The best thing about the Clevo's is they're customizable. I have a Metabox P370SM3 (Sager NP-9380s) and it is awesome. But it did cost an arm and a leg. You should really ensure it has a 900p display at least and AMD APU's are a good compromise. I just built a server box for the home with an AMD A6-6400K and 8gig of ram and I'm happy with it. I have only played Postal2 on it to see how the APU Graphics portion stood up and WOW. It was very playable at 1080p but is an old game.mmmmm...... I might try TDM on it just to see. I will second Morse Troll's words on the display, Make sure it has a mat finish.
  24. You guys.......... We have it all in OZ; The sun the rain and overcast dark brooding skies, The laid back life style and the hippo critical religious zealot. Nude or not I know which I prefer:) Love not hate. I have to get to Europe some day and see for my self the history of all our genes. Either way you look at it you look at it from the same time we all do for we are all here now and so are of the same genealogical age. Oh How I wish there where more ideologically insane people like me:) Did I mention rose colored toe nail shavings:)
