  1. I just played Swing for the first time. Very fun, and very frustrating It's a testament to how good TDM's vaulting is!
  2. I've been able to defeat them with the sword. They just take many hits before dying. I thought that holy water arrows worked too, but maybe I'm remembering wrong. Fire arrows should do the trick also.
  3. I haven't been able to do the airborne knockout/kill properly in TDM just yet because it requires precision striking, but like Sakonosolo: I've done it a few times in the original two Thief games
  4. That's too bad. If The Dark Mod didn't exist, I think that I would be very angry and sad about how "Thief" is turning out. I'm only just a little bothered now
  5. That may be a spoiler, but I'm grateful for it
  6. I feel the same way Springheel. The point of my last post was to say how I want to be able to jump whenever I want; which would allow me to jump over obstacles and land with a stealth attack. I'm not sure how my post lead you to believe that I wanted Assassin's Creed-style insta-kills, but I do realize that I'm not always good at conveying my thoughts
  7. I don't much care for the kind of stealth gameplay that the Assassin's Creed games offer. I am not the traditional Thief/Dark Mod player. Sometimes I really like being a Thief, and never be seen or even knockout anyone. But other times I like being an assassin of sorts; a predator. I don't always want to feel like prey as a Thief. There are combat and killing mechanics in the Thief Games and The Dark Mod. Sometimes I like to use them. Jumping over obstacles and killing an enemy falls within those mechanics. Thanks for the AC suggestion though It doesn't seem like "Garrett" will have a sword in "Thief" anyhow
  8. That kills immersion so bad! I hated it in MGS4.
  9. How can the developers possibly know every instance in which the players will want to jump. What if I want to jump over a stair railing and attack a guard. Where I begin my jump affects my arc and where I will land. Not being able to jump whenever, will give the player less freedom in ways that can't always be foreseen. There are too many variables for them to say that you can always jump when you "need" to jump.
  10. I think I'll wait for the Steam summer sale to buy the new Thief.
  11. I'm pretty torn between Thief 1 and Thief 2. Both have great level designs and atmosphere. Thief 2 has the better story, but I hate how high tech it is. Thief 1 had some high tech stuff, but Thief 2 was a bit too much for me. Then again the great story of Thief 2 wouldn't work without the high tech machines. I thought that Thief 3 was pretty good, but it suffered from mediocre level designs. There were a few good levels though, and the story was about as good as the first Thief, and the atmosphere was as good as both the first and second games. If I had to choose between them, Thief 2 would narrowly beat out Thief 1. Hahaha!!!
  12. I'm sure it varys, but on average, how much does it cost to hire a pro voice actor? Hell, if the Thief 4 devs don't want Stephen Russell, why not hire him?
  13. Okay thanks Springheel. You are one of the most helpful people in the TDM community
  14. I sent a pm to greebo for details on how to help.
  15. Is there a forum where I can stay posted on things like who to send the money to, and when it is needed?
  16. @Springheel and RPGista Thanks for the feedback. If the those responsible for TDM are happy doing this great work for free, than I'm happy about it too. So how exactly would I go about sending funds to help pay for hosting the website, domain names, buying professional assets, and other TDM related costs?
  17. Yeah I knew that you could adjust it. It just didn't seem to change drastically enough for me. The only difference that really stood out, was that on the hardest difficulty the enemy took more hits, but I didn't notice the enemy striking any faster or blocking any more on the hardest difficulty compared to the easiest one. If I counter attack immediately after I block an enemy attack, they rarely ever block it.
  18. I have liked the idea of TDM going commercial for a while now. I haven't really dared to voice it because I thought that there would be many people who would be angry over such a suggestion, because they want TDM for free. I personally would like those who work so hard on TDM to be compensated for their efforts. I would gladly pay for TDM even though I've already gotten it for free. Like AngelWolf said, Imagine what could be created if you guys were getting paid to work on it full time. Unfortunately it seems like the "red tape" might be too much to overcome. Can anyone tell me how I can donate money for TDM please? (Can I use Paypal?)
  19. Although TDM is my favorite game, I am not very good at it. I usually play on the easiest setting because the hard settings sometimes have "do not knock out" or "don't be seen" objectives, and this can sometimes a make a level too difficult for me. I also usually can't find the amount of loot required to complete a mission on the harder settings. I like the difficulty options. New players may need the easy setting to complete a mission, and veterans my need a greater challenge to have fun. In the future it might be nice to have more custom difficulty options, like enemies' hearing and sight range could be adjusted or their attack speed and chance to block an attack could be decreased or increased.
  20. Can someone who was able to download this level in-game tell me the exact name of the folder that the pk4 goes into please? (In case I wasn't very clear I'm looking for something like: NotAnOrdinaryGuest or naog) I could also use the folder name for LIch Queen's Demise. Thanks.
  21. I'm having the same problem with Lich Queen's Demise and Not an Ordinary Guest. I was able to download both these missions from the website, but not through the in-game menu. The reason that I would like to be able to download them in game, is so that I can know when an update is available and be able to update it easily in game. Does anyone know the exact names of the folders that the pk4s go into for these two missions? I think that if I name the folders within the fms folder properly, it will be the same as if I downloaded them in-game. Am I making any sense?
  22. It's the little details like this, that really make The Dark Mod world so immersive. Thanks for your great contributions Sotha. Hahaha!
