  1. I just refunded The Callisto Protocol (pre-purchased it about a month ago). I'm sure it's quite a nice game, but, I didn't like the stuttering and the combat. Might get it again when it's available for cheap, but, not right now. I still have to play through Dead Space 1 and 2, which is probably what I'll do instead. What I can't understand once again though is how much the kiddos trash the game. Jeez, it's ridiculous in what hysterical times we live.
  2. If you're in total darkness, motion won't make you more visible. Changes to these gameplay dynamics will most likely affect people who ghost the missions. It will make things more difficult for them (note that it's already hard to ghost). I think the light gem system works great the way it is. That's the least of my concern with TDM.
  3. Do you realize how contradictory that is?
  4. Please not... I absolutely detest that. It's not realistic either. You focus your eyes on things, not the environment, or some kind of optic lense in front of your eye, which does it automatically. In every game which has that, it simply doesn't work for me. The focus is wrong, and the effect is usually completely exaggerated as well.

    Redfall

Good question. I'd be surprised if you weren't though. Edit: https://screenrant.com/redfall-vampire-shooter-stealth-sneak-co-op-arkane/

    Redfall

I wasn't a fan of witches, but, Dishonored showed that it can be interesting and fun. I have a feeling that Redfall will manage to do the same. I wasn't really very interested in it at first either, but, watching the trailers, it kinda grew on me.
  7. Not necessarily, if you feel spatially constrained by loads of people. Anyway. The level design of Invisible Wars is the most "claustrophobic" of the Deus Ex'. Period. There is no other Deus Ex game which has such narrow and small levels.

    Redfall

Bethesda revealed another trailer the other day: I like it. The dark atmosphere pleasantly reminds me of Dishonored. I just hope that I can bear the playable characters. They seem a bit stupid, to be honest.
  9. As are the other Deus Ex'. And, I didn't mean the claustrophoby you get from loads of people around you. The levels are too narrow. Ceilngs are too low. Etc. You simply see that they had to do these limitations in the game world design. It doesn't appear realistic. Anyway, maybe I should shut up, because, even though I have these points of criticism, I plan to play IW through soon.
  10. Well, what they certainly did better was the impression of actually walking through real life like environments. Big cities usually don't cause claustrophoby. The areas in Deus Ex IW are way, WAY too small.
  11. I liked it years ago (rather a decade ago). But, I tried it a few years ago, and found the level design way too claustrophobic. It takes the whole realism out of the game world. I get it, they had to design it that way due to console memory restraints, but, I really can't play it anymore now. Same with Thief Deadly Shadows. It's a real shame, because, both games would be great if it wasn't for the level/game world design. You probably already know them, but, IMO, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are the much more worthy successors. Even though they do have some things which I despise from modern games (like the unbearable do-gooder political shit they try to plaster the games with these days).
  12. I don't think the game world looks "fine" with a brightness of 2.0. It's way too bright, and, that's also not the way the game is intended to play (at least I don't see a compelling reason to play with such a high brightness. No monitors gamma and brightness is that way off, and, it will rob you of any atmosphere, and realism). I'd stick with the "way the mapper intended things to look like" paradigm which @stgatilov pointed out, to be honest. Makes the most sense to me.
  13. To steer the spaceships? A lot of Starfield will probably happen on foot. I'm really looking forward to the game as well, by the way. All those postponements are killing me though.

    Free games

One of the best games I ever played now free on Epic Store, in the Game of the Year Edition: https://store.epicgames.com/de/p/fallout-3-game-of-the-year-edition

As suspected, game release (and probably also the open beta) is moved to 2023... Here are the latest infos: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/908360/view/3415443263138062083
  16. Such societies have more fundamental problems than could be solved by some single individuals which are blown up as being a "resistance" in western countries. These fundamental problems will either sort themselves out, by those societies becoming more civilized, or it will worsen. There isn't much more to do than sit and watch, unfortunately.
  17. Programmers have a habit of beating you round the head with terms only they can understand. You'll get used to it.
  18. So, anyone played it yet? I just read this in the Steam recensions: "Loving the art style but im just so confused dunno what to do the whole time" Maybe it IS for me after all. So far, all the gameplay videos looked rather boring, like a nice graphics demo, but, maybe there is something to do. Edit: Well, I was terribly wrong about the game. It's really nice. Dunno what I saw in those gameplay videos.
  19. Not with Vista keys, only Windows 7 or 8/8.1.
  20. I agree with your other points made, but, I can't agree with the first part of this one. Why would you want players not to save in the first place? How do you even think you know how players use the save system? (Goes to mappers who think about such systems, of course.) Do mappers not want the freedom for players to approach the game how they want? Why make alternative ways to the mission objectives then? Why give the player different tools to his disposal? This makes no sense. Everyone who wants to restrict him-/herself from saving can do so. Everyone who wants to save every 5 seconds can do so. The system is already great. Why make it bad? It's not the mappers task to care about how people use fundamental features of the MOD, not the mission. They're responsible for their mission, not how people play the game. Well, going around in circles, but, obviously, some just don't understand this. I think the main thing I don't get is how mappers limit their "clientele" even more. This is a niche mod, for niche people, and then mappers implement stuff which only really applies to a niche of the niche people. Incomprehensible.
  21. You don't seem to understand that a change to the save system is a much deeper intervention into gameplay than differing loot objectives, or no kill objectives (and also a fundamental change to how a gameplay system of the mod works in general). Talking about "exhausting". It's a shit idea, regardless of how long we discuss it here.
  22. I just imagined a saveroom in The Painter's Wife. That would take some work if you mess up...
