  1. The first part got a 41/100 rating in german Gamestar mag, which is usually an indicator of a bad game rather than a difficult one... in comparison, they rated the Thief series (which features a pretty high difficulty compared to avergae games) pretty high back in the days. Nothing wrong with playing it of course, if you like, then you like it.
  2. I had it both with version 1.x and with 2.x if that helps. I never saw blank lines though, but i could have overlooked that.
  3. I had that problem on a couple of missions. Always thought it was a bug in TDM.
  4. Lol. I thought about buying a mechanical keyboard some times, but always thought they were too expensive for the benefits. I settled with one of the Logitech G keyboards, the G110, and i really like it. Know what you mean about the mechanical keyboards though, you definitely feel the wear on normal rubber dome (is that what its called in english?) keyboards. They get softer and more mushy with the time. You realize that when you compare a new model to a used model after having used it for a while.
  5. GTA V for PC definitely in autumn now, according to Rockstar Games.
  6. Oh well, after 30 minutes of claustrophobia and wondering about the lack of face expressions in the cutscenes, and about the cut down interface, i decided to not waste my time with this, and install Human Revolution Directors Cut.
  7. Great, thanks very much. I think with the widescreen patch, the multicore fix and the texture pack i'm well sorted out. Knew there was a texture pack for IW, but i forgot what it was called.
  8. Hey, thinking about starting to play IW again (i played it half way through years ago, but never finished it), and i was wondering if there is like, a all in one patch which fixes support for never OS's (i remember IW had problems with multi core CPU's and stuff), and widescreen high resolution support, bug fixes and stuff like that. I know lowenz wrote here somewhere that he wished for something like the Thief Deadly Shadows gold patch for Invisible War, so i guess something like that doesn't exist, but i thought i'd ask anyway. Maybe someone knows. Oh, and if there isn't the hoped for all in one patch, maybe someone could link me to a page where the needed steps to patch up IW for the mentioned points are described, if there is something like that. Cheers.

    Metro 2033

That's true, and probably much of the size of the world was due to giving the players a "Wow is that epic and big!" feeling. I don't like it that big either. It just isn't motivating to explore for me then, especially when most of the world seems generic. But, make the world a little smaller, pack it full of side quest, and NPC's, make it versatile, and it'll be an "El Dorado" for adventurers.

    Metro 2033

I wouldn't know why open world games like GTA or Risen wouldn't work? GTA is proven to work by millions of gamers world wide, and it sells like hot cakes. The same with Elder Scrolls, although i could accept criticism there, because most of the Elder Scrolls games are a bit generic, and the world doesn't necessarily invite to explore. But the Gothic and Risen games do that quite well for example. Of course, you sometimes have the problem that you solve quests before you spoke to the people giving you the quest, but in most cases, the ways you go are thought out, and expected by the game developers. In fact, it's pretty amazing how well these games work considering you can go virtually everyhwere in the game world. Especially when i imagine how much of a work has gone into testing.
  11. +1 I don't see the need either. People should be free to save as much or as little as they want. If people like to do the mission in one run without saving, they should do that, but i personally get pretty annoyed when i played the mission for half an hour, then make a fatal mistake, and have to do the whole mission again. Like SteveL, i'm more of the guy who quicksaves after every blackjacked guard, or picked loot.
  12. And the media virus spreads. Now i read on the news page of m mail provider, that there has supposed to been an ebola case at an employment centre in Berlin. Emphasize "supposed to have been". Honestly, with this kind of news coverage, one shouldn't be surprised when people believe none of the sh** reported anymore. To make people fear is power. And it sells.
  13. I don't know tbh. I only applied NewDark last time i played it. Worked fine that way.
  14. They will surely work. I played Thief Gold with TFix on Windows Vista, 7 and 8.1, all 64-bit, never had a problem. Not even crashes, graphical corruption or anything, it's all very stable. Same with Thief 2. And of course with support for widescreen, and whatever resolution your monitor is capable of.
  15. I never played through Thief Gold (got stuck short before the end, in the third last mission or so), i think i'll give it another go soon. Probably without the HD textures though, sometimes i feel like they don't fit well in parts. Like the trees almost look too well compared to the other stuff now, which makes them look out of place kind of. I'm not a sucker for shiny graphics anyway, the content must fit.
  16. Playing Risen 3 atm. It's the bomb. As good as the first part, and Gothic 1 & 2 at least IMO. Played 20 hours already, and it never got boring, because there's always something else to do, and the different island have different settings.
  17. Isn't that caused by a version "mismatch"? Say, you play with version 1.08 of TDM, and the mission was fixed to run under TDM 2.02? At least i remember reading that somewhere, as the models also have changed and stuff.
  18. Luckily, there are people out there who think differently: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143659
  19. Alright. Well, thanks for the effort and work you guys put into this, already looking forward to play the game without loading zones.
  20. Well, as i did everything wrong now anyway, i reinstalled TDS now, and applied the Sneaky Upgrade. Now, do i have to put Thief Gold in the FM folder of the Sneaky Upgrade in Program Data? Edit: Ok, installed Thief Gold now properly over FMsel, no problems loading the first mission now. It probably crashed, because i unpacked the content of Thief Gold in the TDS folder the first time. It should really be described in the Thief Gold read me though. It says that Thief Gold should be installed like a FM, but i had no idea how to install a FM.
  21. It's a Thief version from a mag's DVD, without CD check. Sneaky Upgrade works fine with it, as i already played with it installed with the same version. Sneaky Upgrade i installed now is the latest version. Didn't select custom path for FM. Difficulty was expert. It crashed exactly before the loading screen went up, after the mission intro. Hm, now that you say it, i'm not even sure i played with Thief Gold activated. I only started Thief 3 the usual way, i probably was playing the original then? Would be nice if you could tell me then how to start Thief Gold. Oh, and it should be written in the Thief Gold Readme as well... i don't think the majority of people will be able to figure out that they have to start it like a FM, or how to start a FM. Btw, a difference between last time i played Thief 3 is that i have Windows 8.1 now, while i used to play T3 on Windows 7. Edit: It says "Start FMSel through the cyan desktop icon." in the Sneaky Upgrade's thread. As i didn't choose to create that desktop icon during installation, how do i trigger the start of FMSel manuall? I looked in the Thief 3 folder, no executable for FMSel, i checked the c://ProgramData of Sneaky Upgrade, no executable there either...
  22. Well, the game crashes when loading the first real mission, Rutherford mansion. Not cool. IMO they concentrated too much on issues which don't concern me, like loading time in levels, instead of fixing obvious bugs, like the re-aligning of AI when you blackjack them, or fixing the bug where you move when strafing. Oh well, will uninstall the game for now, and just apply the Sneaky Upgrade, which worked fine for me before. I guess they should have waited a little longer, before releasing the Thief Gold update in final release.
  23. Alright, thanks. I see now, it is also mentioned in the ReadMe, but it's not very clear.
  24. So, do i need to install the SneakyUpgrade, in order to install the Gold patch? It says it acts just like a FM in the readme file. But i have no idea how to install a FM in T3...
  25. Nice. 4th playthrough coming up. Great that the Gold patch is only 21.4 MB big too.
