Hah! Never knew about that, that's great.

The association I always got was Springheel Jack from TES Oblivion, who was a master thief with magical fall damage reducing boots.

Fair enough, I haven't touched CUDA, nor owned an NVidia GPU since the 8600gt, the only possibility this GPU linking offers me that'd I'd be interested in is the PhysX stuff. Didn't AMD make some alternative version of PhysX for their platform?

Well one use I would have for such a situation, is plugging in a cheap NVidia card to do PhysX alongside my current AMD videocard. Other people might want them for CUDA etc alongside something Radeon does better. Whether or not it actually happens...

  8. Now onwards to figure out which missions I didn't play. So far all I tried I have played before :P

      Xarg

You could play all of them over again, many have seen updates and additions, and there are the campaign-inna-box missions coming out again.

Doesn't the wiki mission page have a release date column? Should be possible to pick a date and play everything from there on (play La Banque!)

  12. New CPU is 2-core Pentium 3.2GHz cheapo... but it clocked to 4.3GHz without complaining. My system booted with no issues on the first try after moving my drives and gpu to new case, mobo, cpu, ram, and psu. Lots of games to test, but Unigine Valley tested rather nicely in ultra quality, as did lotro. :)

The case was fractured, and the heatsink had sheared off? What did they do, throw it off a tower? Geez. Surely the courier is at least partially liable for that level of damage, that doesn't sound like it was just "dropped".

Ouch, that sucks. Still, the entire setup was pretty cheap. Figures the carrier would drop the box, wonder if that's what killed it? Either way, the rest of the system runs, congrats!

Thought you got an i7 4770? I assume I've missed an update thread where something went wrong with it?

  15. Every time I update Windows and it takes 10 minutes installing some .net framework fixes, I get this (-) much closer to deleting the Windows partition. If I can ray-trace an entire scene faster than software installs, they're doing it wrong. If it takes 10 minutes to apply some fixes on a 6-core 16 GB machine with an SSD, they're doing it wrong!

  16. ...that funny moment when you hear a crazy lady screaming profanity like a banshee outside McDonalds... To people who behave this way in public, we *do* laugh at you!

  17. just got a call from the tech support scammers. I acted as if I was doing what they wanted, but I occasionally acted pissed because "my computer spontaneously turned off". Then they waited with me as I "started it" again.

      Xarg

Perhaps, but it's drops in an ocean.. there's a vast sea of gullible and ignorant people who "don't have time for that nerd shit", and they'll keep getting suckered for their $500 (or equivalent in bitcoin, I've seen that too). Until the average user's computer literacy vastly improves, this won't go away. By all means, feel good that you've spared one grandmother, maybe 2, each time you screw the scammer around, but tomorrow's another day and there are more grandmothers and illiterates to scam.

I've seen people on Youtube do that, but they do it with virtual machines, typically what happens is once they've conned you (or you've conned them) into getting access to your machine, they start trashing your operating system files until you pay up.

If nothing else, it's a testament to the resilience of the Internet that it still works despite that stuff going on.... left it running for 10 minutes and USA racked up 10,000 attacks.. crazy.

Keep at it, Diego. You'll either succeed or fail, but to just give up is the only way to lose here. If you fail, you at least did your best, and may be able to resit part of it, giving up means you probably won't try again.
