  1. With the headline, I almost thought this was a real announcement, especially since it also comes from Gold. :)

But when I read it, I quickly realized what he meant. He also didn't dare to make it seem real for an April 1st joke, because then too many would have believed it...like that you can now convert everything quickly thanks to chatgpt and therefore you don't migrate to UE 4, no,  you migrate to UE 5, and chatgpt then also uploads the game immediately on Steam, because chatgpt, so the highest courts in Europe and the USA have decided, is a legal entity and is allowed to do that! 🤪

I converted the brush to a func_static, that seems to resolve the problem. I thought I had already tried that, but I guess not. I'll keep experimenting, but it looks like it might be as simple as that.

This also happens to me regularly when I create cylinders with small diameters. The item from the project below is very close to the world origin.

This mission sounds like 2023 winner, or is it to early to tell? Is there a release date?

This depends on my progress. If I can finish the world building for the last mission until the end of April, then a December release might be possible. Though, I am bit exhausted of mapping and thus did not do anything this week.

  4. I played for 20 minutes today.

It just looks fantastic. Whenever I look at the stuff from Amadeus, Bikerdude and my intimate enemy wellingtoncrab, I would love to delete all my stuff.

You guys really have it going on. If I were to really use the term art (and I don't like the term because in my opinion it's too vague), it would apply to your work.

Welli, Amadeus, Biker: I can't wait to see your next own missions; after that I'll probably stop mapping and you'll be to blame. Was it really worth it to scare away my genius? Grayman surely would not have wanted that!

  5. This is way better IMO, you think you can replace the numbers with some more old looking like this?

    image.png.17ca730445e8082aa43d4d95eb8a180d.png

I think you should search for alternatives replacing the "X" and the "O"...they look like you travelled to a parallel universe and stole it from the there available Playstation 2 controller. 🤭

Thank you for working on this item!

    1. The console reports, that the script seems to miss an "'#endif" line.

    2. After pressing a random button for the first time, a confusing sound effect is audible.

    3. The display should show the player's input

All in all, cool work, but even for my steampunk mission design (this is from the last mission from my campaign which contains a lot of  Inventors tech items) it looks way too modern.

If you could make this look more fitting for the general DM setting  (rusty pads, leave out the letters and search for alternatives replacing the "#" and "*", find a more suitable display maybe with the numberwheels as I have already suggested), then I would definitely integrate it in my next work.

Two questions for me: First what is the easiest way to create an in-world entity which requires an item when used? This means the entity is frobable, when used it checks if you have a given stackable item in your inventory... if you do it triggers its targets and subtracts 1 of that item, if you have none left no targets are triggered. I can make a scriptobject if necessary, but this seems like something basic which I've seen done before and should already possible just that I haven't found how

Check kingsal's "Hazard Pay". It includes a stackable blow torch that can be used as per your description.

Pretty amazing mission. A bit difficult though.

A lot of locations can only be accessed via other buildings, but this cannot be seen on the map (no clue). There's a long road that is completely not accessible, but because it looks on the map a regular street I put a lot of effort into trying to reach it somehow, although actually it's a fake road. Also no street names anywhere on buildings doesn't help.

Yeah, a real gem that could need a lot more attention.

During beta, I too spent a considerable amount of time searching for a way into the gated fake road. 🤪

Hmm...That does sound like a good habit, I really need to get myself to do that.

I can see one problem here being personal (not on my part) and that is being introvert, I'm very sure most people aren't too willing to give a negative review because they fear they'll get into a conflict and they don't want that, as an example.
Or they simply feel too embarrassed to make a review, let alone one in public and have somebody else get in the argument.

Honestly, to all that, all I can say is...Have no shame of yourself if others are trying to shame you for no good reason whatsoever other than their petty sycophantry.

I wouldn't demand that everyone writes long novels, and when someone criticizes, you can usually tell by the way they write that they mean well.

I don't remember that most of the authors here react too offended when factual criticism is expressed.

But if someone writes an "analysis" with the content "I don't like mission xyz, because it's total shit", then maybe he shouldn't do it or he shouldn't be surprised if he gets a good beating.

but I never got to use the 5 ancient artifacts. I see the picture on the wall in the bedroom and I even make a sketch of it and have the 5 artifacts but what do I do with them?

    Spoiler

You do not need to make a sketch of the picture in the bedroom, once you read the readable on the table, the picture can be frobbed and adds a sketch to your inventory.

Once you have found all five artefacts, the mission objective has been completed as it just comprises finding the five objects. Nothing more to that and you in the objectives list that the relevant objective got ticked green.

Keep in mind this is for a cyberpunk campaign I'm creating, which will have computers and other scifi elements mixed in with the existing assets. For the standard theme this should in fact use different models or skins to look more rustic, possibly removing the screen and replacing it with a bulb. The screen is a decision I went for later, it was meant to be a sort of neon lamp for the color to indicate its status... in the end I went ahead and added a screen as well which you can set to nodraw to disable.

Very cool. Maybe you find the time even to replace the digital screen with the mechanical numberwheels from the ordinary locks? Then it would be quite fitting for the Dark Mod setting.

why are there no screens in the game, if keypads already have them?

...mabye because nobody has used screens till now...?😀

@nbohr1more: Maybe this should be moved to Assets...?

I ran into an odd issue today. I have a wall which appears in the editor window, but in the game it's invisible (or missing). What would cause that? I'm not getting any dmap errors.

(edit) I fixed it. I had used the "Hollow" button instead of "Make Room" on the brush. I just moved the vertices around so there is no overlap and now it's working fine.

Is this brushwork? If so, is it snap to grid? Is there a Visportal near by? If push comes to shove, pm me the WIP and I will have a look.

First I was like "eh? hatch in a jungle setting? looks a lot like.... nah, I'm just imagining it."

Then came Desmond, Jacob, 815 code, Fleetwood mac albums in the very dharma-like rooms and lightning.

I wonder how many references I missed.

Very nice mission, however I didn't know what to do with 2 white squares in the undead section. (Not saying it is too hard. I love the difficulty and puzzles of TDM missions, and the lack of handholding. Being challenged by a game seems to get rarer these days.)

In the almost two years since I published this mission, you are the first to recognize the reference. So the trophy for your post above is not a thank you but an award; 😍 consider it a token of my boundless esteem! 😄

Is kind of scary though that virtually no one seems to know the series. The first three seasons were pretty much the most exciting thing to watch on TV in the mid-2000s (and it was also the talk of the town among those who had any interest in fantasy/mystery...at least among my circle of friends and acquaintances).

If you care to read up, here are a few more references to the series that you missed:

    Spoiler

    1. just past the two cameras guarding the front gate, there are shoes off to the right by a puddle of water (John Locke as he first enters the station)
    2. the dining area contains an artificial light source recessed in the wall, which creates shadows
    3. in the living area there is a movie projector.
    4. in the communication area there is one or another device that reminds of computers in the 70s (especially the thing with the rotating tapes).
    5. the electric cameras in general are a reference to the mirror system that Desmond used.
    5. like Desmond in the series, my Desmond is also very fond of alcohol
    6. There is a shower and an armory plus supplies both connected through a vent.

As for the two square panels you couldn't do anything with:

    Spoiler

There is a smaller area  close to the larger area with the waterfall where these panels can be used.

    Way better than Via Domus

You mean the Lost game? I fell flattered. :)

Btw, I had not thought of this game when developing this mission, but now that you say it, it comes back to me. It would have made things much easier for me, because I watched the relevant episodes of the series and then recreated "The Hatch" interiors based on a floor plan that was available on a fan site.
