    Thanks Zerg.

I had been eyeballing an existing map to do just that since the startmap.pk4 was a functioning and packaged mission.

I will stop short of copying Iris, renaming it to, say, Lily, and submitting that to a speed build contest.  There is still SOME honor among thieves.

I think it is a better idea to start with another mission as template, as Iris is quite complex, uses lots of advanced stuff and thus will be for a newcomer surely confusing.

I recommend you to start with Sotha's "Bakery Job" which is available via the downloader and there is also a video tutorial that shows how he produced this mission from scratch to beta:

    https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=gem2sHGhfZE

You can then start modifying this mission and see how it changes.

However, after Sotha's video tutorial, you should definitely go through Springheel's tutorial as well because it includes vital information regarding Visportals, AI and other things:

Not sure if this is good news for franchises such as Deus Ex and Thief as there's not much known about their intent yet, but apart from those franchises I'm hoping for a remake or complete new game in the Legacy of Kain series.

Edit: oops, just saw jaxa's status update after posting this.

I had to check the wiki as I had no idea who or what is behind this venture. I'm surprised how many European developers they've bought over the years, and there's a total of over 10,000 people working there. That makes them bigger than EIDOS were in their best times twenty years ago.

I find even more surprising all the titles that have been bought up over the years. Don't know if that will bring any improvement for LoK, Thief or Deus EX - looks like they want to keep developing those titles in Canada as (no offense) Montreal stands for me with 2006's Assassin's Creed for the decline of the industry.

I therefore do not believe that this will be positive, especially since I have not noticed that one of the brands mentioned in the wiki has attracted attention with spectacular reboots or further developments in recent years - Darksiders 3 excluded.

I agree with you that the IP of thief, deus ex and kain are better off with embracer.

ESG is an overarching agent with influence over squeenix.

Here is a decent explanation of ESG

    https://odysee.com/@LibertyLockdown:8/ep-145-go-woke-or-go-broke-how-esg-took:c

ESG gets companies to make their products for special interest groups instead of customers.

ESG is the reason for the fast decline in quality of entertainment (especially AAA), publishers are focused on checking all the boxes of a list created by some Thinktank instead of trying to make a product that sells or is liked.

    It was an ok game

The puzzles are partly really crazy. Did you finish the games without help?

I recall the spiritual precursors "Labyrinth" and "Maniac Mansion". The first could be beat with logic, but Maniac Mansion already showed what the following Monkey Island games would include: illogical puzzles.

Back then, I did not play  1,2 and 3, but "played" (with online help)  part 4 around 2000.  Loved the humor, the setting and some of the puzzles, but it was simply too crazy.

I really want to love this series, but the developers made theese games much too difficult.

That's why I was thinking a force field might be necessary.

This one works just with responses:

    https://streamable.com/qck043

    Set up:

    1. Two rubies (just the model entites) placed in the skull at mission start and turn them frobable (static_rubies)

    2. Two rubies (the moveable loot entities) in a blue room (teleporter_rubies)

    3. Two atdm:teleport entities (left and right) with the same world coordinates as the two static rubies. These teleport entities must target the corresponding teleporter_rubies in the blue room.

    4. Four frob responses on the skull:

    ----> a. remove static_ruby_left

    ----> b. remove static_ruby_right

----> c. trigger teleporter entity left

----> d. trigger teleporter entity right

    5. Each of the static rubies needs a frob response to frob its corresponding teleporter_ruby in case the player frobs one or two of the rubies before he grabs the skull AND a second response to remove itself.

I have a lootable coin purse that has hide 1 and a script activates it (thru activateTargets) so it gets unhidden. The problem is that then the player can't loot it, it's unfrobable. I've tried to set the activator not to $player1 but that hasn't fixed it. Any idea what I can do here?

If the purse is not attached to an AI, you can use the teleport entity (forgot its exact name, I am not typing this from my workstation) that teleports entities to its origin once activated.  Just place the purse entity somewhere players cannot reach it before the teleportation (it can also be put into worldspawn).

I used this method several times in past missions for items to be collected by the player and it works without problems.

EDIT: The entity name is "atdm:teleport"

  7. Someone just reported in the TBM thread, that TBM would be included with the basic Mod installation.

I cannot verify this, however I found some other confusing things.

When I remove all installed missions from my fms folder and try to download missions again from the downloader, two things happen:

    1. The downloader only shows a very short missions list - including some 25 missions.

    2. For these available missions, wrong missions descriptions and wrong pictures are shown (I checked Volta series, AGN and HH series and all of them include wrong pictures and descriptions through the "More" button).

Can somebody please check as well, or is it a problem on my end?

Sorry - i didn't find the place where i could see the version of the level

    Nevermind, try the following:

    1. Open your DM folder, then open the subfolder "fms"

    2. Subfolder fms: search for the subfolder "tbm"

    3. Delete the folder "tbm"

    4. Download this here:

    https://we.tl/t-gxZ9OFhWOx

    5. Drop this file (do not change the appendix) into your fms folder.

Restart the mission and please report if the problem still persists.

I am very excited for the last season of Better Call Saul. It'll be the end of an era when that show finally ends.

    Oh, yes, fully agreed.

...and the writers Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan are part of the top 5:

    1. Jack Farmer

    2. David Simon

    3. Peter Gould/Vince Gilligan

    4. Ron Moore

    5. David Lindelof

When I see this truly epochal list, my heart warms and I am very close to tears!

I heard about this the other day. Considering the guy's record, yeah, it will definitely be worth a watch. I'll let you know if it holds up. And do things still get released on DVD????

Yes, my friend: I bought a few weeks ago "The Deuce" on regular DVD and I am pretty sure that the last season of Better Call Saul will also be released on DVD.  :)

...but I could not resist to buy "Lovecraft County" (which I have not seen yet) on BluRay...as I also bought the HBO Watchmen series on Bluray. :)

I am looking forward to reading your report!

That's the argument that always comes up when new tools or features for the core game are suggested, but nobody ever explains exactly what these would be. Since I started my patch I play all mission with it and although e. g. extinguishing oil lamps makes some easier, the throwable holy water makes others harder, and still I haven't found a single mission yet that broke! TDM has options enough to circumvent changes like those and that argument is the main reason why gameplay hasn't improved in years, aside from missions where authors created fantastic tools that often are one-hit-wonders ;).

It does not necessarily break missions, but can have other effects, for example:  Mission 2 - Tears of St. Lucia

    stlucia_2022-03-19_15_38_22.thumb.jpg.fbd13e3cd63aca2328d1c51376542061.jpg

A speed potion in the shop can discourage players from finding an alternative non-knock-out way to enter the church area, and this mission wants to teach players that lots of missions provide several ways to access certain areas.
