I don't know if This will apply to all missions that I've previously played, but for the one that gave me the above Game Error, I re-downloaded the mission (updated) and it started on the 2nd attempt. The first attempt the game crashed to desktop. Also, my saves were lost, but that was probably due to my upgrade to 2.07 a few months back. I'm not sure if my issues are totally fixed in other words. I need to test more missions. But I got my 64bit version back !! Thanks to everyone who is helping

The Game has returned along with the capability of played in 64bit. But when I try to play certain missions again, I get the following Game Error. I get the same error whether I try in 32bit or the 64 bit version. And I get the same error when I DON'T use any of the saves but attempt a "New Mission". Any ideas whats happening ??

I don't remember if I used your installer or not but I can't find any reference to an "uninstaller" anywhere so that suggests I didn't. What I DO have is the darkmod207.zip which I will use to extract all pertinent files in what will be an empty folder (I may name the folder slightly different). The zip file contains tdm_update.exe as well as the file TheDarkMod64.exe, which for whatever reason disappeared from my computer last week and started my problems. Once installed, I will move the fms Folder to the new install folder and hopefully that will solve my growing issues. I suppose once installed, I should run the update program to make sure everything is current ?

I can't find an "Uninstall" option for Dark Mod. I need to re-install the game due to increasing and now expanding problems. Should I just delete the folder containing the game (saving the "fms" folder) then install a fresh version and drop "fms" into it?
-
Yes. I realize from past experience that saves don't survive DarkMod upgrades, but the little bit of information I read on 2.07 made no reference to this issue, so I was basically crossing my fingers and hoping that the problem of save transfers had been rectified. Oh well......

OS = Windows 10 Home Ver 1903, Build 18362.145 I transplanted TheDarkModx64.exe to my original folder and the game appears to be working, though it loads 2.07, which you confirmed should not play my saves. So....my game has returned to me, upgraded from 2.06 to 2.07. The price is a loss of all my saves. That is an unfortunate consequence with DarkMod upgrades and I guess we should all be used to that by now. Whether my configuration is stable, time will tell. My plan will either be to carry on with the original folder (with the copied .exe from the fresh install) and remove the fresh install, or copy the fms folder to the new install so at least I have the fan missions that I have played available to me without having to download them all over again. I'm inclined to take the latter course of action. Does that sound appropriate? Are there any other files I should copy over to the new install ? Appreciate your help nbohr1more. Thank you.

I have more than one problem here that needs addressing, but hopefully one solution will help the others. I will start at the beginning. For some reason "TheDarkModx64.exe" disappeared on me today. I was playing the game yesterday without issue. A shortcut to the game is pinned to the taskbar and I was informed that the file the shortcut was pointing to no longer existed. Nevertheless I did a search throughout my computer for the executable without success. So I thought I might as well upgrade to 2.07 and maybe that would bring back "TheDarModx64.exe". The installation wouldn't complete however because "Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package failed to install." I was prompted to run vcredist_x86.exe from the game directory. That failed as well because..... "Another version of this product is already installed." I finally decided to reinstall the game in a different folder but lost all my fan missions & saves (they are there in the original folder). 1. Does upgrading to 2.07 make all the saves from 2.06 unplayable?? 2. "TheDarkModx64.exe" shows up in my new DarkMod folder. Can I copy/paste to my old folder?? 3. My old folder (with all the saves in the "fms" folder) will play if I run TheDarkMod.exe instead of TheDarkModx64.exe. But the saves won't load. Is there a difference (other than running 64bit) between the two executables? I copied "fms folder" over from the old folder to the new folder...same problem (saves won't load) I copied "TheDarModx64.exe" from the fresh install to the old folder with no change. So if the Saves from 2.06 don't survive the upgrade, then there's not much I can do except reinstall 2.06 if I can find that version anywhere. Probably digging myself deeper into a hole here Thx in advance for any advise.

Fan Mission: Old Habits (Rebuild) by Obsttorte 20/05/2013

Baffled I'm confused over a reference to a "picture" that explains how to open the coffin in the crypt. It sounds like I missed a text that explains the hint. The only reason I know I have to light the torches in some kind of order is from reading this thread. Can someone point me to where this picture is located or where the hint is located ? -
Fan Mission: Lords & Legacy by Kvorning (2013/08/30)
CountMorillonite replied to Kvorning's topic in Fan Missions
This was a GREAT mission. Couldn't find all of the loot on my own, but that's ok. I like to check all of the boxes on the objective menu, but I don't like to ghost, so I felt forced into it as those check boxes are on all 3 difficulty levels (even if they are optional and don't trigger the mission to end). I had to replay the mission when I "found" the identity of the killer and all hell broke loose. Seems everybody was alerted, from the killer himself, to the guards on the street. I couldn't pickpocket any loot from guards on high alert. On second try of the mission, I completed everything first and grabbed the evidence of the killer before heading for mission end. I don't know if this was the way it's supposed to play out or whether It was happenstance.- 226 replies

I finally got back to this and did what you suggested and found some really sneaky loot plus I did the 2 side missions. But I was still short and did the ultimate cheat to locate that last 80 in loot. It was -
This is such a good mission. I had to cheat in order to find all the loot, but the locations I missed were totally fair and really sneaky. Has anyone found all the loot legitimately? And lots of Secrets which is a big plus for me. It's hard to believe this is only the 2nd mission by Kingsal. And it is completely different from Volta 1. I look forward to whatever comes next.

Fan Mission: Volta and the Stone by Kingsal (05/26/2016) V1.3
CountMorillonite replied to kingsal's topic in Fan Missions
I've just replayed Volta And The Stone and it was as fun and adventurous as the first time around. I did get stuck climbing over a fence and had to reload but other than that, it was a smooth experience. On to Volta 2. -

It does and thank you for these missions. I look forward to playing them again. With Volta2 I can keep the old version in my inventory in order to reference the secrets, even though I can't load them in ver 2.06 of Dark Mod. -

I can't sem to find ver2 of Volta:The Stone. Below are the copied mission details Mission Details Title Volta 1: The Stone Released 2016-05-27 Version 2 Author(s) Kingsal Mission Type Single Mission Size 102 MB Description Volta and the Stone is a fairly large Thief-style mission (Lord Bafford's Manor). It is the first mission of a campaign that follows the Thief and his encounter with an archaic and powerful force. The campaign will span from robbing noble houses to being hunted by malevolent creatures from beyond the Veil. The emphasis is on creating a mood and tone that will hopefully feel familiar to fans of The Dark Mod and the original Thief games. Mission Download Locations: Volta 1: The Stone #1 http://darkmod.taaaki.za.net/fms/volta1_1.pk4 #2 http://www.southquarter.com/tdm/fms/volta1_1.pk4 #3 http://www.fidcal.com/darkuser/missions/volta1_1.pk4 The links all point to ver 1.1. Is 1.1 really ver2 ? -

I may have found your easter egg, but I am still 300 short of loot total (3250/3550). And I looked everywhere for the 300 missing. I even resorted to noclip mode and wandered around. The Glasses I found legitimately though. -
Fan Mission: Sir Taffsalot's Sword (by grayman) (2018/3/18)
CountMorillonite replied to grayman's topic in Fan Missions
Great mission. I love mansions that are warm and "lived in", yet maze like. It definitely presents itself as an adventure. Having guards turn on the lights you turn off has always been a laugh for me. I use it to map their patrol routine. The spider robot thingy at the beginning, however, looked discordant, like it didn't belong. I guess it's an homage to the mechanicals of Thief 2, which always stressed me out. There are a few other missions with these buggers, but so far, they seem to be benign. They just squeal a high pitched alarm but don't attack. Playing this mission, about half way through, I heard it's alarm sound from inside the mansion and had to get out on the third floor balcony to investigate. It wouldn't shut up so I doused it with a water arrow. It seemed confused, stopped squealing, then resumed its patrol , all quiet like. Nice dedication at the end. -

Glasses in Rafter In Annabelle's bedroom up on the rafters, there are some glasses (see attached pic). I was sure that would be a secret, but it wasn't. So why is it there? I'm probably missing an additional Objective that wasn't triggered because I missed reading some text somewhere. -
Thanks Destined & grayman. I remembered that it was a console command, but forgot how to bring down the console. Destined's link showed me the way.

I actually used noclip a while back but forgot how to engage it. Mind you, I was playing in ver 2.04. Can somebody remind me what to do ?

Fan Mission: Not An Ordinary Guest by Fieldmedic (2013/08/01)
CountMorillonite replied to DeTeEff's topic in Fan Missions
Loot List My first go around was Assassin, which was pretty straight forward and can be finished quickly enough. But I took time to explore the area. I must have missed something BIG, either a considerable stash of gold / jewels, etc. or a huge area of the map. I only found 1870 / 5515. My question would be, is the loot total the same for Thief & Saboteur and is it all in the same place. Also, is there a loot list circulating around ? I just completed THIEF and I noticed loot total was still 5515. This time however, I only got 1490 in loot Could it be the 3 loot bags you pick up in the vault can go towards the 5515 ? I doubt it, but I don't have an idea where else to look. It could be 1 HUGE valued loot item I somehow missed, probably down in the sewers which branch off many times and impossible to complete without running out of breath. -
Fan Mission: Cleighmoor (by grayman) (2014/3/1)

Map Showing Entrance To Great Hall I can't find this map. It must be somewhere before The Great Hall Of The Ancients because it makes no sense to place it within the Great Hall. I DID come across an unfrobable map on the long table in the library room within the Great Hall, but that can't be it since I can't pick it up. I have the Sewer Map and the 2 Floor Maps in my inventory. Neither can be "placed" so Sewell can find them. So it has to be a different map somewhere. Also, I knocked out Sewell a while back, so he will never find the map until/unless he regains consciousness. Does that negate the objective ticking off regardless on whether I find the map and drop it where he would find it. -
Seeing as you only have 1 post so far, I'm curious as to whether you are still around after all these months. If Heart Of Lone Salvation is "the best fan mission I have ever played", do you mean only the Dark Mod missions or are you including the hundreds of Thief 1,2,3 fan missions out there. Or maybe you're including fan missions from other games not Thief. That's pretty hefty praise and I'm not disparaging HLS at all, it's awesome!

Loved the mission. I only got 3/7 secrets on my own though. The ones I didn't get were "nicely done" and, typical of secret hunts, make you explore every corner of the map. Looking forward to the next installment. One last note on the problem I encountered wrt Garrett's Ledger......The crash appeared to happen at the end of the sound/music that accompanies completion of the task at hand. Could be a coincidence but it sounded jerky or raspy, choppy, then whoosh....crash to desktop.
