  1. My system is a bit off the wall, it won't play new triple A titles that well but it plays the Dark Mod and missions perfectly and anything else I am wanting to play. It is an Intel Core i5 8400, 48Gb ram, GTX980ti and Asus Xonar Essence soundcard running on Linux. The coup de grace is a beautiful Dell P1130 CRT. It makes games like Thief and the Dark Mod absolutely shine.
  2. Dredge is free right now on Epic!
  3. 13 years too late but thanks for this. It was a beautiful and atmospheric mission and the only gripe I had was that it was too short. I'm sure everyone else would agree. To the guy who said there were no jump scares, I had at least three!
  4. I have been messing around with assigning multiple actions to the screenshot button. I think it defaults to F12. I have a button F10 and F11 assigned to turn off the hud and turn on the hud so when I take a screenshot I press 3 buttons. Not ideal but the solution that I was trying didn't work. I'm not sure why but I read that bind "F12" "g_showhud 0;screenshot;g_showhud 1;" would do it and it didn't. I saw the hud flickering like a millisecond maybe so I guessed it might be too fast. I was looking through the Doom 3 console commands today and added a Wait 1 in between them and it works like a charm. For anyone interested open up your DarkmodKeybinds.cfg file and either add or edit your screenshot command to this and it should work. Here is the line in my file. bind "F12" "g_showhud 0;wait 1;screenshot;wait 1;g_showhud 1;" And as always thanks to the devs and mission makers for such a wonderful gaming experience.
  5. Thanks Bienie for these wonderful missions. I have binged on them for the last few days. I started with the first one and that was a few months back. I loved that and then I sort of lost interest with the Dark Mod for a while. I had started your second mission COS1 and I don't know why, it turned out to be great, but I think I was trying to supreme ghost them or something so it got a bit frustrating. I picked it up again a few days ago and loved it. Finished the second one and then then third and then this one. I think I will give myself a break for a bit! Ha ha. I'm sitting in the pitch black in front of a CRT, my eyes are spaced. I played them all on Master and found them to be easy enough but long. This one took me 4 hours and I ghosted it as much as I could. I think it was way more than 4 hours because of reloading when I was seen. Didn't knock anyone out which was very doable. I was never caught in too much of a tricky situation. The bank was probably the hardest area in this level and still not bad. I look forward to COS4. Are you in the process of making any new missions?
  6. I love it too. It has a special place in my heart. I play it on a 20 year old Sony 420GS and at night there is no better feeling than crouching along a wall trying to see where to go without being caught. It is sooooo immersive like this. I could turn up the gamma and brightness but the darkness is something else. Magical.
  7. Just got to the "chest" and I can't get either of the items. I have just completed the gold objective so the money is not important but I want to read the scroll so much. Anyone know how can I cheat this? nevermind - got them with the chest closed! Love the black metal references too btw!
  8. Thanks for the work you put in on this mission. I'm just playing it now and loving it. I have been away from the Dark Mod for a while and it is great to get back into playing some missions and this one ticks all the boxes. So far I have the main objective done and the rat caught and just looking for the ring now. Thought it would be in the sewer because she said it was stolen when she was in the toilet but not there. I will have to keep looking. I also have to find a way into the last door in the sewer but I'm guessing there are loads of things yet to do! I need to find a huge amount of gold for one!
  9. Thanks to the creator of this Mission, I really enjoyed it. I was stuck for ages trying to get into the bedroom because of something I read in a book about the cleaning closet. I spent too much time in there! I ghosted it, apart from the 2 murders which was quite tough. Stuck now finding the crows' stash but I have the rest done. I have 2 but cannot for the life of me find more but I'll get there. Great atmosphere in the mission too. Great job!
  10. Tried this mission and enjoyed it up until the fireball room. I hated it. I knew what I had to do, got the keys but then had an awful time trying to open the locks in the middle and gave up. I forgot which locks I had actually opened so I was going around trying to frob each of them again. I appreciate the work you put into it though and enjoyed the previous puzzle with the painting. edit: Actually just powered through it and got through the fireball puzzle. Now on the sneaking puzzle which is right up my street!
  11. There's nothing wrong with your monitor! You don't need to get an OLED. If you had a chance to try out a CRT again, see how you like it. There's a certain something and it could be nostalgia talking too, but it feels good playing these types of games on a good CRT. Not just the blacks either but everything together. You'll have to just try it and see:) If you don't no harm either. Not many people use them, maybe for a good reason!
  12. I suppose to compare the two you have to do it yourself. I think it is fantastic but that is just personal taste. You can find CRTs lying around for free these days so if you did want to check you could for not much money. Here is an unfair comparison. I actually still have one of them Sony 17" that you had in the attic!
  13. I think for me it adds to the atmosphere with how dark it can get. Especially in games where darkness is a big thing. I played a modded Morrowind playthrough and it was just sublime. I literally couldn't see anything walking around at night. I had to use a spell to see. Same in the Dark Mod. I finished Blackgrove Manor just now and the immersion was something else. I do have a decent 1440p monitor too and when I play with that it doesn't feel the same, I can see everything even with the brightness down. I suppose you just have to try and see for yourself. Mind you, this is in a pitch black room at night so...
  14. Thanks for this mission. I had a real blast playing it. I loved the fact that there was minimal enemies and in my opinion it was more enjoyable as a result. It is actually the first mission I got a 0 stealth score in! Not hard with this mission I know, but still. I loved the darkness and atmosphere. I play on a CRT with the brightness way down and had to use my lantern for the most part. When I stepped into the library for the first time from the tunnel it was absolutely gorgeous looking at the moon rays coming in through the window. If there were more enemies like others suggest I would not have been able to use the lantern as much and it would probably be fairly annoying. So it was perfect mission in that respect!
  15. That's ok, they're not for everyone. I guess I'm lucky never to have eyestrain from them and I could be hours at a time staring at it. The bulkiness I can relate to though for sure:) I suppose it's a trade off. I got a extra deep desk recently and it still hogs it.
