  1. Welp - I can't help with any teething problems - but what I can do is shower praise on these screenshots and say that I'm really looking forward to playing this ambitious looking FM, when it's ready. =-3
  2. Vote gets 3 / 4 / 4 from me, excellent all over! Very tight - lots of interesting things to climb over - it's how I imagine some of the very cluttered streets to be in TDM setting! Felt myself a bit lost - found the tomb to be a wonderful climax, though!
  3. *Waves a "GO JESPS!" flag* Glee! I eagerly await it, it looks really unique!
  4. Springheel! Is there any chance you could upload a higher res version of your lovely map? Some of your images on the wiki seem to have been shrunk down a bit.
  5. I already link the Dark Mod from my profile on Steam - but if we could make a subsitute Dark Mod group if Tels can't get back in - that's great too - if people can search it and it comes up!
  6. One of my absolute favourite bits of in game flavour text was from the original Thief games - a kind of Old Testament flavour Builder story of a father's son returning to him and saying he needed tools to work with - and each time his father giving him a single tool. Every time the son returns and says "But father I know not how to use these tools" and so his Father cuts off his hands - "These are the finest tools you have - and if you know not how to use them I shall take them away". Chilled me reading it. It's a fine line between Biblical parody and really capturing the harsh flavour of the world our thieves work in - I feel. I've read a couple of flavour pieces in TDM that are spot on - and a couple which went too far and just made me chuckle. @Demagogue: Yes, cities built on cities, essentially. That's kind of what I think as well - although the relative isolation and reliance on sea trade with foreign invaders puts me in mind of London crossed with an Italian city-state. I kind of think of it was perhaps the grotty 18th century London or Edinburgh crossed with the rampant expansion and canal work of the industrial "red brick" cities. This for me is kind of a "mini-Bridgeport" vision - conflating Liverpool and Manchester into one city, built atop the foundation of London, with the countryside around it still concievably pagan - or at least - civilization kind of "stopping" suddenly, afraid to go further out into the wild.
  7. Sorry "Springhell", I guess I had infernal things on my mind. x-D But to MD, that is very cool - I'd love to see your thoughts on the matter - and correct any awful attempts I make to use Google Translates English >>> Latin! I would like to mention here the Malleus Maleficarum (Der Hexenhammer) = The Hammer of Witches. Since that is the kind of very forthright book title I imagine the Builder's Sermons having. =-P
  8. D'oh! I can't believe I forgot the Plague Ward - I was pre occupied with the flooded quarter - which has a great place in my visual mental imagery is a kind of "collapsing Venice", streets turned to canals and pavements into piers through the flooding! Thanks, Sotha. If you didn't fancy "AD" Springhell, perhaps an "Anno Revelatione" year of the "revelation" given by the Holy Builder to Amos? Fiddling about with Google Translate here from English to Latin trying to find something appropriate... Year of Founding? Year of Foundation? Hrrrm.
  9. I'm especially fond of subterranean levels - so please share whether you finish it or not! Good luck in either case!
  10. Oh! I forgot to say my performance and / or issues: Have the AA and AF to 8x and 16x and everything maxed out -but post processing gives me an upside down "fish eye" lens view of the whole world so I have to turn it off. When I try turning it to 16x AA it just plain crashes and restarts so I put it up by increments and found 8x works. Everything is playable and smooth, tried almost every level. Having the filters on that high does begin to hit the frame rate so might turn them back to 4x in order to get back up to super smooth FPS. I have that bloody sky box issue which drives me mad - fiddling with Catalyst doesn't help so I used Fidcal's solution with a cfg file to reset the skybox to the default! Occasional crashes seem due to replicable ones in the level design rather than hardware problems or conflicts.
  11. Thanks, Sotha! I was hoping to start up a background thread like this to exchange ideas - but like you I desire the majority of the timeline to be malleable. Like SH says - I rather imagine that the Builder faith /doesn't/ have a persecution figure like Christ - but an Old Testament flavour Moses figure. That is to say - the Builder faith is besieged by the Old Ways from the beginning and seeks to stamp them out rather than absorb them! That's just my own opinion though. I would love it if Bridgeport had had a clear Cataclysm like the City in Thief - a sealed section or some ill-thought-of neighbourhood with ominous stone seals where hundreds of years ago the undead had been beaten back underground (just barely) .
  12. Good stuff, SH! The door banging thing sounds great - I would LOVE to use something like for a revenant trying to chase the player and being locked out at the last moment... =-P
  13. Could we get an admin to sticky this? If this takes off it could be a really useful resource that we want mappers to dip into as it grows...
  14. 4 / 3 / 4 rating from me - loved it! You are great at bait and switch objectives, Sotha - reminded me of the structure of Mandralosa!
  15. Whee! Very exciting, Sotha! I've almost finished all of your missions! Just about finished the Beleagured Fence. You and Jesps are up high on my list of favourite mappers so anything new from you is always a plus. =3
  16. Ah! Thanks Jesps, must be something I completely missed as I found no such thing... Oh! One thing which seems simple but a lot of maps don't have and it really annoys me: A map! Without the map and compass I would have felt lost in a bad way. It's the first map where I've really felt that my survival relied on knowing where I was and where to go. Very cool!
  17. Ha ha, it's almost like a Dwarf Fortress thread: "And then I used the drawbridge to kill people horribly..." =-P
  18. 4/5 across the board on this one - your readables are a joy! I really like the unconventional Thief style missions - mansions bore me to tears so missions like this are a nice break. There's a sense of freedom and excitement at different directions to explore in this mission which is great fun.
  19. Jesps I absolutely LOVE your missions. This is actually the first level I tried loading after playing the tutorial - I got scared off pretty quickly and decided that as a RTTC kind of level I would "save" it for later when I got the hang of things and could appreciate it properly. Finally got back to it - completed it with all objectives inc. optionals done, about 6000 loot found, can't believe I still missed some but guess I could go back to ransack every corner. =-P 5/5 across the board, votewise.
  20. Colour me intrigued, BD, I've finished Flakebridge so I'm jonesing for some more undead levels so whatever you're up to I'm looking forward to it!
  21. Looking great Springheel - looks like we've got some more variety! Out of curiousity, didn't Sotha have a similar glasses head for the book merchant in The Transaction? Or was that a custom asset?
  22. Excellent! I'm very glad you created a structure, Fllood! Hopefully some lovely assets will come out of the wood work now! =3
  23. Absolutely spot on, Springheel, fits my mental image of them perfectly! Thanks for sharing! Good share... ;-P
  24. Fidcal I <3 you: It sounds super difficult technically but I love that main staff on the Dark Mod are still considering new equipment! Honestly though I miss the speed potions for running away from accidentally alerted guards and the Invisibility potions for getting through very tough areas. I guess a Shadow Arrow would be my favourite way of doing this without detection, especially since I find Gas Arrows a lot harder to use in TDM than in Thief for knocking out more than one guard in a gateway.
