When EAX is enabled in the main menu, Business as Usual v2.0 will not start. The error message is: ERROR: idSoundCache: error generating openAL hardware buffer Doom 3 (steam version) using TDM launcher TDM v1.06 windows 7 32-bit Creative Sound Blaster Titanium HD Would anyone else please test this with a Sound Blaster card and EAX on? In the meantime, I will play this FM with EAX off. No problem with this FM when EAX is off. By the way, this is a very fun FM. Lots of interesting exploration. Nice sounds and background music.

TDM has excellent ambient music and sounds, especially since v1.06 First time, when I played v1.06, I took off my headphones because I thought the new street sounds were actual real sounds. Helps to have a sound card and good headphones. I love to play TDM in a dark room, at night. The scary/spooky/moody/dark/errie/uncanny music makes the game so much more enjoyable. TDM without music and without quality sound would, in my opinion, only be half as fun.

Played this FM last night. This is one of my top-10 favorite FM's. 5 stars in all categories. Is it easy? No. Experienced TDM players, who enjoy a challenge, will not be dissapointed. What's so great about this mission: Creativity (daylight environment, tension meter) Numerous interesting and changing objectives **story telling (one of the best stories in TDM) challenge (because of day light environment) interesting and exciting map (tunnels and maze) Is there a loot list? I am playing expert. Need 35 more loot to finish. Read about some stolen jewels, possibly in the tunnels, but dont know where to look.

What? I have a GTX 580 (270.61 drivers). Thief Gold is installed and running perfect in windows 7 32-bit. There are plenty of instructions on ttlg.com forum to install and run Thief 1/2/gold on windows vista and 7. I used some old vista instructions on ttlg.com and it worked in windows 7 too. installed mods are: wide-screen fix, ddfix, DarkLoader, and Thief Enhancement Pack. I LOVE steam. No more cd's/dvd's for me. If a new game is released and not available for digital download, then I will not buy it. I have several large heavy bags full of old cd's/dvd's. Dont want more. I never once had a problem playing off-line in steam. When your computer starts, and if internet is not working, you must wait a few minutes and then it will prompt "start offline mode?". That's the only inconvenience. Steam prices are sometimes high ... which is why I wait until there is a sale. 300GB of steam games are installed on my PC and they all run fine, except for 2 games (Total War: empire and Gothic 3 with mods). These 2 games sometimes crash and I believe it's related to the 2GB ram limit in 32-bit OS. Empire - Darthmod is running 100% stable so far. Gothic 3 is almost 100% stable now, after trying several 32-bit fixes. Threads like this lead me to wonder ... what kind of people are on this forum? Seems people here are all poor. Have old or cheap hardware and old OS. complain about spending £€$5 GTX 460 1GB vram should be an excellent graphics card for TDM (and overpowered for Thief Gold). My GTX 580 is overpowered for TDM and Thief Gold. I bought it because I like to play in 3D vision (although openGL games such as TDM do not work in 3D Vision). I still love TDM, even in 2D.

Happened to me in Heart of Lone Salvation. I vaguely recall it also happened in The Alchemist. maybe it's related to the large number of unconcious bodies or to body stacking. the blackjack is my favourite weapon.

Glad you figured out the problem. The reason I sometimes click "restart mission" is because there is no "load game" when I die. There is "end mission" but I was afraid it might uninstall the mission. Yes, my weapon is usually raised when I die. In the future, I will choose "end mission" and load a game, instead of restarting.

I can make many save games available. This happened to me many times. I just decided to say something today. Do you have a favourite mission? LOL Cant you reproduce this on your system? Edit: The Beleagured Fence works ok. I am trying FM's in alphabetical order. Builder's Influence crashes. Chalice of Kings crashes. Fiasco at Fauchard street crashes. Shall I continue?

Just loaded my last save game in "The Alchemist" and it hangs and crashes when I "restart mission". Load up your last save game in any mission, fail the mission, and tell me if you can restart mission.

First pass on Memtest-86 v4.0 finished and zero errors. Second pass is running now. It is possible that something was corrupted because of previous unstable overclocking (my system is very overclocked). Seems to me, crashes would be more random if there is file corruption or an unstable overclock. This problem is always the same. If there was a "load game" option after failing the mission, then I would choose "load game" instead of "restart mission" and not have any problem. Does anyone actually restart the mission?

I tried that patcher but it did not help. Same problem. That patch is for 64-bit OS (and 32-bit exe). My OS is 32-bit. I will try the fix on the other forum which I linked to. Edit: The fix on the other forum does not help. Same problem.

Here is the problem I have in Total War: Empire. It crashes because 2GB ram (32bit OS) is not enough ram. http://www.twcenter....ad.php?t=238484 I dont have any problem loading TDM save games. The only problem is "restart mission" and only after making a few saves, not at the beginning. Can anyone please test "restart mission" on 32bit OS? Or test my save game on 32bit OS? Thanks.

GTX 580 (1.5GB vram). Yes, I sometimes crash in a few other games (gothic 3 with mods, Total war:Empire). I think it's usually because of 2GB ram limit in 32-bit OS. Or maybe its a corrupted save file.

Update: I began a new mission in Pandora's Box. Then, failed it and chose "restart mission" several times. This works fine at the beginning. Next, I loaded my last save game (right before completing the mission). Failed and "restart mission". It hangs during loading. OS is windows 7 32-bit with 4GB ram. Everytime, when I fail a mission, and choose "restart mission", TDM "hangs" while loading the mission. I ctrl+alt+del and in windows, I see doom3 crash message. I dont remember any missions where "restart mission" worked. I always try to avoid "restart mission" but it just happened to me in "pandora's box". TDM v1.05 Does "restart mission" work for you?

Just completed this mission. It's a big improvement since "The Thieves". Actually, it is very close to flawless, in my opinion. Initially, I did not like the "no blackjack rule" on expert (I always play expert). I admit, it was nice to be forced to change my style from "body stacks" to ghosting. Only one dissapointment. At the beginning, I would have enjoyed a much longer journey to the destination. The brief rooftop access in the beginning was exciting and unfortunately brief. I know it's unrealistic to expect a large city. Simply want mappers to know about one of my wishes. What is the next mission in this series?

I love Builder Scriptures. Would like to see more pagan writings in missions. I voted for 4. My favourite FM's include a well-written introduction/story/plot/dialogue. I enjoy both mission related and mission unrelated readables. Readables are a good way to compensate for a lack of eavesdropping .... which was very enjoyable in Thief 1/2/3. How about a FM which requires obtaining information as the main objective? sounds fun to me. Though, there is a problem if TDM players do not speak English fluently, especially Victorian era English. Personally, I enjoy the challenge of trying to understand words which are not in my vocabulary. Non-fluent English speakers may appreciate some highlighting or any way to focus on important text and ignore superfluous text. But please do include superfluous text for people who enjoy it.

Story begins in a modest, simple way. Go to a tower, loot it, and leave. No problem for a master thief, right? "All who enter are never seen again" Do not underestimate this warning! Illusionist Tower is one of my new favourite FM's. scary custom music/sounds. Map design is very creative, surprising, and sometimes bizarre. Please make Illusionist's Tower 2. Mage/Illusionist towers are so fun!

This happened to me in The Heart of Lone Salvation and in The Alchemist TDM v1.05 Seems to affect stacks of bodies. When I returned to my body stacks, near the end of the mission, my stacks were gone. Bodies were scattered nearby, twisted into human pretzels. Quite funny really. I dont recall any unstacked bodies which were affected.

Almost finished Heart of Lone Salvation version2 (TDM 1.05) Let me say huge thanks to Fidcal & Baddcog. This mission is such a delight to play. I can honestly say, this is the mission which I will recommend to friends in order to interest them in TDM. It is better than any mission in Thief 1/2/3 in my opinion. Interesting story, authentic writing (notes), numerous secrets, numerous rooms/objectives/characters. I absolutely love the way you can pick up a candle and see in a dark area, and even light other candles/torches with it. It feels like Amnesia:Dark Descent combined with TDM.

Shadowhide, I played your mission (Winter Harvest) last night. It's different than other missions, not like typical thief missions, which explains why some people will not like it. Personally, I welcome alternative styles, especially horror and even sometimes interesting combat. It needs some polish for sure, but I like your style very much. Let me make my point. Even with an older video card, the graphics settings can simply be lowered. But to reduce cpu load is not so easy. In the forest, on your map, sometimes, my fps was only 20-30. And I dont believe it's because of my graphics card. My graphics card gpu usage is always less than 100% on all TDM missions which I tested. Seems to me, a very powerful cpu is needed to run The Dark Mod at 60 fps at all times. Unfortunately, doom3 is single-core threaded. If the doom3 engine was dual core-threaded, performance would be much better, I think. Crysis 2 runs well for you because it can use 100% of your dual-core cpu. TDM can only use 50% of your dual-core cpu. I am playing TDM on a dual-core i3 530@ 4.15GHz and my frame rate is usually 60 but in some places in your forest (especially at the end , when it is bright), my frame rate drops to 20-30. The only solutions I know are to redesign the map or to buy a powerful,fast cpu. With a E7400 @ 2.8GHz, I think there will be bad lag in some places. Overclocking your cpu should help a lot (may need new cpu cooler). You could download and install MSI afterburner and show gpu data on-screen, then look at gpu usage. If gpu usage is less than 100%, then probably, it's a cpu bottleneck. If gpu usage is at 99-100%, then lower the graphics settings and/or resolution.

I highly recommend that you monitor cpu and gpu stats while gaming. MSI afterburner and EVGA Eleet can show gpu stats on-screen while gaming. I always display on-screen: gpu frequency,gpu temperature,gpu fan speed,gpu usage, vram usage, and frame rate. cpu usage can be checked in windows task manager. ctrl+alt+del to open and alt+tab to switch to windows task manager while in game.
