Subtitle Edit ( https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit ) now has support for subtitle extraction via Whisper. See https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/help#audio_to_text . This works well on Windows. In the extraction window you can download all the needed extra dependencies the first time you use it. After the generation of the srt files, you can use the editor to tweak the files, or move to a seperate editor of your choice (including texteditors). Aperantly it also works under Linux: https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/help#linux If it doesn't, see info above to use the commandline in Linux. Kdenlive ( https://kdenlive.org ) now also has Whisper subtitle extraction build in. This works well in Windows, but I couldn't get it working in Linux. You have to go to Settings > Configure Kdenlive. Then go to section Speech to text. On top of the window you select option Whisper. Then you have to install some stuff by clicking on an install button (this doesn't work in Linux currently). The extraction via cpu is considered slow, but I thought it's not so bad using an 8th generation i3 processor during a test with a large speech file. You can afaik only do this one by one, so it's not as fast.

Question: What are the requirements for adding subtitles to missions? It seems that the subtitles that are not included in the mission as an update are also never downloaded. You can see the number of downloads in the post. It could also be that nobody cares about subtitles, but maybe I shouldn't go that far. If subtitles are not tested by anyone but me and the mission author doesn't care or isn't around, can they still be included without them checking it out? I think it's an addition, not a modification. I guess I should ask for permission prior and if I don't get a satisfactory answer don't do it?

Maybe something to consider for 2.13 dev.

I make it a habit to derail topics (where most has been said already) in off-topic section, while I think it's bad to do that elsewhere.

Yeah I played it. Makes the game a lot more playable. Thanks. I might boot it up sometime to see if it's still worth it. I find the Diablo 2 interface too outdated and I think the official Diablo II: Resurrected doesn't fix that. It seems some Diablo 2 mods implement DGengine: https://www.moddb.com/mods/dreamaker-mod I remember a glide wrapper also improved the graphics, but is probably not needed anymore with DGengine.

Fan Mission: Cleighmoor (by grayman) (2014/3/1)

So I thought this is normal TDM behaviour. But then I found it's not happening on Windows. Also, when I alt-tab to desktop, the mouse is still gone, keyboard navigation is possible. Why is this happening on mission load? What is the purpose?

You could ask one of the moderators. @greebo?

So i.m.o. yellow reads better than white, but I think it's too strong. I think a color between yellow and white would be better, so I guess a lighter yellow.

New version of DR crashing on startup
datiswous replied to demagogue's topic in DarkRadiant Feedback and Development
It has Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8650U CPU with 16gb ram? Should be powerful enough I think.. -
Can DR be used with engines like Godot?
datiswous replied to Skaruts's topic in DarkRadiant Feedback and Development
I read @greebo stated obj is also possible, but it has to be specified in a config file.. -
Would it be possible instead of using darkening to apply blur to the background of subtitles? Just a hunch.
-
I think this doesn't looks very nice. I think it's best to make the background the same width as the subtitle block. What do others think? Are we going for the background look, or are we going for the black outline? It's not clear to me what the current direction is, but the outline looks nicer and it seems a waste to try to implement something that doesn't get chosen anyway.

Ok, yeah I guess I can make a profile for TDM. Anyway, I thought v-sync would be smart, but it seems making the framerate go high, makes everything much smoother, so I don't really understand why one needs v-sync.
-
It does make it less fat. You can see this in the screenshot I posted. So saying it does nothing is simply not true. It has it's uses, but I'm not sure how important it is. Also, the color options seem a bit too basic.

Here The subtitles for this fm. All the subtitles for voices are there and fully tested. 2 conversations: Some drunk thug talking to himself (start of mission). A Builder guard and a Builder bishop having a conversation (end of mission). I made changes to 2 srt files (everything is srt, no inline), the rest was already correct. Edit: subtitles added to mission.

These are usually only given to users that are more active on the forum, so we kind of know what to expect.. (I could be wrong). What do you want to add/change?

I recommend to edit the darkmod.txt file and change: Title: Somewhere Above the City 1.1 Description: Retrieve a stolen Builder artifact. Author: by grayman Required TDM Version: 1.02 To: Title: Somewhere Above the City Description: Retrieve a stolen Builder artifact. Author: by grayman Version: 1.1 Required TDM Version: 1.02

So I encountered this weird thing. In fm The black Mage in the ingame-cutscene right after the intro-video the financial adviser (guy in red) doesn't have a position icon above all their subtitles: The black mage does:

Since upgrading my gpu to an nVidia RTX 3060, I can only set v-sync via driver setting Sync to Vblank. At least I thought that's what that setting does. Enabling V-sync in TDM does nothing. I use Manjaro Linux xfce Both TDM 2.11 and 2.12
