  1. @Marbrien Regarding the area you are describing: Kids these days have no work ethic. I am certain you were just picks away. Maybe taking a closer look at the family portraits you were just admiring will bring some clarity to the family head count.
  2. Ok I'll adjust my local copy, or try to anyways. Thank you though for taking the time to help me, appreciate it orb.
  3. The Postal 2 of the era, work of the devil and corruptor of young minds - ...pinball.
  4. I believe the keyhole peek feature only works in Windows at the moment. The black screen is an improvement as previous versions would hard crash to desktop if you attempted to peek with Linux.
  5. Sorry! The forum didn't make the move obvious... glad it happened since yeah this branched into its own discussion. Please move my last posts on it there as well.
  6. Unless it is has changed recently practically all normal maps in the game are uncompressed as dds compression causes visual artifacts on them. Though I imagine how noticeable this is somewhat dependent on the asset and method of compression.
  7. Now I'm not gonna derail this thread too much by getting into the Dark Forces games, but I will say I loved those games growing up and played them til the CD practically melted in the drive. Glad your enjoying it though, and now when you are done you can play SLL!!!
  8. Addendum: in both Windows and Linux, the menu option for View -> Orthographic -> YZ actually changes the view to XZ, and vice versa. The option for XY works as expected, as does Ctrl+Tab. I'm not sure if this is related.
  9. Is that a vanilla texture, or should I post about this on the FM thread? I think I saw it before so I presumed it's default. Didn't know mipmaps were still so important: I always thought they're intended as LOD or for progressive loading. Good to know since if I made any textures I'd have likely used tga or png, still had this stereotype that dds is a more proprietary format though it works with Gimp and even the compression modes were open-sourced at some point.
  10. Currently playing the mission. Compared to the quality of the original Thief series' mission design, this is a top notch work of art. You can spend hours of capturing phenomenal screenshots. I must mention the highly-authentic story, balanced gameplay and so many references to the lore. I can imagine how much one of those Looking Glass Studios giants would enjoy and praise IRIS. Thank you @Wellingtoncrab. Respect.
  11. Thanks for your answers Unfortunately, as mentioned above, it did not worked. I went back to the 2.09b version and lines disappeared. For the moments I will let it like that, because, just after I re-installed the 2.10 version, it became slower. @stgatilovWhat did you mean by "console log" ? @AluminumHasteI don't have this folder. And also I have, other than the darkmod.cfg, darkmodKeybinds and darkmodPadbinds
  12. You can set FXAA in the nvidia linux driver settings. Then you have to disable AA in tdm settings. Since it's an nvidia tech, I understand you cannot set it in the amd driver settings.
  13. I prefer to have one setting like "Motion Sickness" (some better name should be chosen), which simply disables both mantle roll and headbob (and does any future adjustments for the same reason). Most people play OK with default settings, changing these only matters for the minority which feels uneasy with them. At which point it is easier to just disable all the stuff: it does not have any gameplay significance anyway.
  14. I have it currently disabled. This is because sometimes there is a guard nearby and you want to wait with opening. Sometimes the door opens in your direction and then you want to step back before opening. There should be a wiki article about how to fix dependency on it. For example if you have a door that opens automatically after a number input, how to make it work when auto open on unlock is disabled.
  15. I cannot get get further with the mission. I tried the hints, still didn't help me. I cannot see what the switch does. This is how far I got:
  16. It's almost the end of the year, a fitting time to be officially done writing the wiki's "GUI Scripting" series! Thanks for all the help, and apologies if I neglected or mangled any points anyone raised. I hope TDMers will find it useful, and will improve it where it needs it as time goes on.
  17. OK, it's almost the end of the year, and I am officially SO DONE with the GUI Scripting series! Yeah!!! Thanks for all the help, and apologies if I neglected or mangled any points anyone raised. I hope TDM readers will find it useful at times, and will improve it where it needs it.
  18. I've noticed in the latest beta that certain candles in holders are now start off lit when they should be extinguished. They have a flame particle attached to them but some of them seem to emit no actual light. Look at the ones in the store room and adjoining bedroom in The Outpost for example.
  19. It produces hairline light leaks at some recessed shadow boundaries. Jonri was helping me create an erode shader to improve that but the result caused shadow acne because the shader was working in texture space. Needs to be screen space as I can grok.
  20. They are. But as not everyone has access to it, I create the custom build as proposed by Dragofer iirc. The behaviour is toggled via the weapon def (basically commenting the current command and uncommenting the previous one), so there is no harm imho.
  21. slight hyperbole here but this feels like a real blow to future game preservation and remaster prospects. the current Atari are the ones sitting on the Blood IP that had been uncooperative with Night Dive's remaster.
  22. In the Tenements there is a scholar who has left a Book of Enigmas in his room. You must seek to understand "The Octagon Weird". If you want a better hint, open the spoiler. If you just want the solution, open this second spoiler.
  23. That's exactly how the latest dev build should work. With SRT, the sound is extended until the latest end time of all elements. Is it not working as expected?
  24. i use invidious and newpipe on android so i don't have to endure with the uptick of creeping ads on youtube.
  25. 1,2 3 ads certainly aren't, but they are abusive and scam when there are 28 ads and 61 trackers for this 10 minutes on YT. I'm talking about the abuse of these techniques. Everyone is free to pay for YT Premium, even if they don't see ads, they will track you anyway and they also know your personal information and also your banking data. For my part, I do not plan to enter this game.
