Mansion Reference + Floorplan

Ok as mentioned before I have a whole bunch of old architecture books (all printed around 1900), full of old photos and floorplans. Here's the first one, that would IMHO fit perfectly into the world of the darkmod: (unfortunately the page reflected the flash of my camera)

Here's the floorplan of the basement:

I know, that we're actually not in need for that, since we have those awesome concept drawings of kfmccall, but I thought we can still use it for inspiration.

BTW this little mansion was built for the countess Allcard-Konarska, by the architect Dr. J. Durm.

Cool, that might even be big enough to stage the whole mansion mission on, if we added a large cellar full of crypts and scary things, and maybe a few out buildings.

Civillisation will not attain perfection until the last stone, from the last church, falls on the last priest.

I think it's not 100% big enough, but kfmccall is certainly able to use this for inspiration and extend it a bit - please with a such a hall ! did someone mention ROPEARROWS ? :o

MAssive rooms like in that last pic look great, but wouldn't be very good for performace I'd imagine. You'd need to put a lot of items in there to stop it looking empty.

I could use some bits and pieces from that floorplan, but I've already got Goldfish doing some concept art and plans for my mansion mission.

I envision it as being a bit more humble than what BT had shown, but still nice and atmospheric...the best example comes from the Marsden Archive (where I've based quite a few of my recent ideas):

I like the style, it fits perfectly with what I had in mind from the beginning. A fairly wealthy nobleman of some standing who's family is currently slipping into ruin. They're on their last leg and have definately seen better days, but they still hold enough power at the moment to be somewhat of an influence in the city.

I'm looking forward to GIMG's concepts, but the photo from the Marsden Archive doesn't look like a MANSION to me - it looks more just like a bigger house - nothing fancy at all.

anyway - maybe dave is interested :P I worked out a bigger version of the mansion:

13 would be a courtyard

14 on the 1st floor some kinda saloon and on the 2nd floor maybe an art-gallery?

Very cool, BT. Instead of 13 being a courtyard, perhaps we could make that be kfmccall's room with my fountain in it?

...And make a courtyard area south of 13, enclosed by tall hedges.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
