Recruiting Concept

Can one of our concept artists do a nice drawing in our Darkmod style for recruiting new poeple? I was thinking about that painting of the US Army with that guy pointing the finger at you and saying "Uncle Same wants you!" only changed to opur darkmod style. I think we can really use some additional texture artists to help with the workload, and such a picture might raise more attention than just a simple posting on a board.

Of course the text should then be "The Dark Mod wants you!" :)

I agree we should have some kind of catchy post, but I think showcasing in-game stuff would be better at attracting texture artists than showing concept art.

I was talking to NH about this a week ago and he was already planning for this, so check with him about what ideas he may already have.

If the goal is to attract texture artists, it is better to show them actual in-game stuff, IMO. Showing concept art is good for attracting general attention, but not so much for specific jobs.

It's hilarious and all, but again this seems like a general recruitment tactic. I have to be honest...if I saw another mod post something like this I would think either:

a ) they were desperate for new members or,

b ) they have a warped sense of humour

Now, as far as I know, A isn't true. B is true, but do we need to advertise it? ;)

I think a more tasteful post, saying something like, "We have a great, professional team and have accomplished a lot already. Here are some examples of the type of quality work we are producing, but we could use the services of a talented texture artist to speed up the process," would be better.

Anyway, that's my last word on it...it's your department, NH. :)

Yes, we can definately include that as I think we need to establish that we're not desperate. :) However, I think something with a little punch like this never hurts. We can mix a little "fun" and "professional" at the same time. :) I'll speak with oDDity and see if he has time to do a quick pose or two for us.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.
