Possible DR 1.6 Bug

Recommended Posts

This is weird, anyone else getting a totally see through brush in the textured 3d view when highlighting a face with a "diamond_pattern02_xxx" texture on it? The base "diamond_pattern02" seems fine.

Specs:

Win 7 x64 pro

DR 1.6 x64, all VC++ updated

ATI 4870 – 1Gig, Cat 10.11

Aero disabled

Also tried on my laptop, as above except

Win 7 x64 Home

ATI 4570 Mobility – 512MB, Cat 9.07

Everything else seems ok (or has been reported elsewhere) and props to Greebo on the renderer speedup, most impressive good sir!

Glass surfaces, caulc and skies are some of the textures that went seethrough a few versions back...

When I modell sky in intricate places I usually put a totally off shader on them, like a colourful fabric. That way I can easily see what I'm, doing. What's important is that you don't use that shader anywhere else. When I'm ready I use the shader replacer and change all back to sk.

Ah - so the semi-transparent skybox (skybox_ocean) is a feature then? Is there a way to tweak them back to the oldskool way? Been out of the editing thing since about DR 1.2 so I'm just catching up. I'm not seeing any problem with the Caulk tex though.

Time to sign up over at the bugtracker I guess so I can sort it out...

Here's what I have in textured view, I changed it to mountain sunset so it shows better, but all skyboxes show up semi-transparent in textured view.

In lighting mode, it does look like a skybox would in game

While I got you here, what do the arrow icons do in the upper right corner of the second shot?

its normal , but remember, you need paint other side of skybox brush with some "solid" texture like caulk or whatever

Proceed with caution!

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
