Saving Discspace by deleting FMs

Darkmod saves one FM.pk4 in Doom3\darkmod\fms and one again in Doom3\FM - so can I delete one of them to save diskspace? Does the game even use the fms folder after extracting the pk4 to Doom3\FM ?

FM = name of the fan mission

I need to clean up my hard drive :D

Since 1.08 this shouldn't happen anymore. At least it doesn't happen for me neither on Linux nor on Windows. Maybe they are leftovers from 1.07, so you can delete them me thinking.

There's save games in the doom3 directory folders, but they're not playable on the new version anyway, and if they're from before a fix, they'll be a bloated size & worth deleting anyway.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Yes I know what you think, but that's not the case.

I was cleaning all my disks today and I had my Doom folder 4 times on them. I deleted two completely and the two left I cleaned - imagine how many gigabytes it safed now :)

Having many space doesn't mean you have to spoil it, you know? Because loading and search times are much faster if you only save the things you really need ;)

Haha, I couldn't help but laugh a little when I read thread title. People complaining about lacking discspace in 2013, where a 2 TB hdd costs just around 80 €. ^^ I got 6.4 TB in my rig! :D

My mainboard supports up to 500 Gbyte - increasing the storage means an all-new PC.... Sometimes I'm a bit tired of "the solution to your problem is throwing money at it" responses one gets all the time from people with a lot more money. Sometimes it makes sense (when it is little money), but not all the time.

Actually my PC isn't much newer, too. I only buy new hardware if it is really neccessary, and I don't know what I should do with several TB of memory.

@SeriousToni: May I ask you why you had four copies of doom 3 on your plate?

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.
