Issue with Packaging a Map

Hello,

First time mapper here.

I'm having a bit of an issue with packaging my map. I followed the guide http://wiki.thedarkm...ck_your_Mission but to no avail. I'm able to get the darkmod.txt and startingmap.txt to work, and it'll display the dark mod logo, though after that I get a parchment display with no text except for the options "back" and "objectives". If I click objectives the screen goes black but audio keeps playing. That's it.

So I'm wondering if there is something crucial that I'm not including, the xdata folder perhaps? Or is there possibly another resource that may go into more depth in terms of packaging a finished map? A video tutorial?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

is the map name in the starting map text file, just the name of the map minus the extension, if the map is called mymap.proc is the name in the starting map called mymap, plus I think you are missing the loading screen guis file.

I also had that problem from not having the proper subfolder in my PK4, although I don't recall the exact specifics now. I'd successfully packaged a mission previously too, so went off looking for fixes in all the wrong places before finally realizing my error.

Thanks guys, I got it working now.

There could have been any number of things that I fixed. There was one file that had uppercase lettering, so that may have been it. Also, \maps somehow didn't end up in the root, so that could have been it. On top of that I was missing a few files, like the guis, so there's that to consider as well.

Regardless, thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. All is well now.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
