AI Cooperation During Searches

. I just have to figure out when to start/stop the anims. I.e. state2 = yes, state 3 & 4 active searching = no, state

 

Any reason not to use it for state 3 active searching? Don't AI just stand in idle pose in state 3 as well? State 4 uses the combat pose when standing, but I didn't think state 3 did.

They move around, but don't they use a regular walk and stand animation? They'll walk over somewhere, stand there for a few seconds, then walk somewhere else and stand? Maybe I'm getting it mixed up, but I thought it was only state 4 searching that they used the hunched over search animations, and the combat idle pose.

In state 3 they walk normally, but stand hunched forward, weapon raised. I don't think they need idle search animations layered on top of them when they're moving around like that. The new animations seem best used when the AI is standing in one place, because it makes the standing around less boring visually. This fits the guard/observer search roles, and the suspicious "stand still" pose.

Fair enough.

 

In the future we can talk about whether we want AI standing in combat pose to have a couple random animations if they stand in one place for too long (I noticed Thief4 does that, and it looks pretty good), but that's for another day.

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
