Would this laptop run TDM at solid 60fps on all missions?

Yes, all day long.

This is a very good laptop and comes with a 2yr warranty (don't get conned into buy a 3rd party warranty, if you can get an extended warranty direct from Gigabyte). And I found it cheaper elsewhere, with the savings you could then buy an SATA SSD or mSATA SSD with the saving.

I would speak to Box.co.uk or Gigabyte directly and see if you can get a deal on the GTX950M(this will use far less power, thus longer battery life) model with 16GB and an mSATA SSD & 500GB HDD.

Thanks BD, does that include running the game on all max settings, ( x16 AA etc..)

Since I never unplug my laptop, would the 950m make much difference? How much difference would the 16gb make, is ram really just about framerate? Also how well would the 850 model run a game like Skyrim on high settings?

The GTX950m has 640 cores clocked at 933Mhz, and Ive seen a GT840m on SteveL laptop playing one of my resource heavy WIP's at almost max FPS and that has have the power, so I would say 4xAA and 8xAS are very doable. I don't even try 16AA on my desktop GTX970 on any game as its too much of a perf. killer.

The 950 is just a cooler running, lower power consumption version of the 860 - which all kinds of good in a laptop.

The 16GB of ram is good because more and more of the latest games benefit from more than 8Gb of system ram, and if you get into mapping with TDM/DR you will thank me. Windows 7 for example in my machine makes use of the extra ram by using just under 4GB (2.1GB actual and 1.2GB cached)

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
