Heart joint name?

Which is the correct joint name to use to bind a dagger in the heart of a ragdoll. I've tried two or three spine joints, and neck but they are not right. If the player moves the ragdoll the dagger goes out of line. Must be one of these presumably...

Neck

Spine, Spine1, Spine2, Spine_Dummy, joint8 (Spine2) joint9 (Spine2), leftpad (Spine2), rightpad (Spine2)

LeftShoulder

Try spine1. It controls the area shown in red:

(assuming the model uses the citywatch skeleton, that is)

Thanks. It turns out to be Spine2 which seems to be centre upper chest. This is the houseguard I think. The dagger is rock solid now when I frob the ragdoll. I think Spine 1 was just under but I'm not certain.

And the cvar to show joint names is r_showskel 1. Think I'll add that to the wiki. :)

To get the AI to fall precisely where I wanted I set the dagger to hide 0 then triggered it to hide 1 about 10 seconds after map start. Now I need to skin the AI with a bloody tunic. I should've strangled him instead.

Yes, spine2 is the region higher than above. That seemed a little higher than the heart, but probably either one would work.

Can you add blood decals to his tunic?

Yes, this is Plan B. As soon as I looked at the skin I could see it was mirrored so any tweaking would at best have to go centre chest and probably be horrible.

So back to my plan A which is a decal. I have just done first placement test to line it up with a plain white cloth texture. Both dagger and decal have to be hide 0 at triggered to appear a few seconds after map start. Tests with the dagger and the AI didn't fall back properly into that chair. There is a bindtoRagdoll but dunno what it does - did not bind for me. Damn, this is not even the right AI, it will be a townsman when I've done I think. Actually, taking this screenie gives me a fun idea for a note pinned to his chest : 'Let this be a lesson to you!"

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
