Web Formatting Screwed Up

Recommended Posts

Occasionally the formatting of web-pages gets screwed up when I'm using Firefox. It happens with a number of pages, including the TDM forums, my own webpage, Facebook, and TTLG forums, as well as a random scattering of others. It seems to happen regularly if I load Firefox and then use another browser for something, and then come back to Firefox. Other times it happens for no discernable reason. Restarting the computer usually fixes the problem. Anyone have any idea why this might happen? The forums wind up looking like this:

I had that happen to me like 2 weeks ago. It also messed up deviantart.

What I did, is run a scan with AVG, got rid of about 4 web trackers and it started working again.

What is AVG?

I looked at the console warnings, and this is what it shows when I try to load the forum. Does that mean anything to anyone?

Hmm, did some more digging, as even restarting the computer wasn't solving it. I updated my java plugin and cleared my cache, and that returned it to normal.

Hi,

I have no idea why it is happening but I can see what is happening:

Your browser is loosing style. You can get the same result by giong to "view>page style" and select "no style".

This is meant to be a feature, so web authors can implement different styles the user can choose from, eg. a big-font-style for people with bad eyes.

I've seen this behavior on my machine as well, but very rarely and reloading the page usually did fix it for me.

avg is an anti/virus and spyware software, you can get a free or paid version. Free is good, paid just has extras.

One reason the style can get lost is that you computer first fetches the HTML, which instructs him to fetch the CSS (aka the stylesheet) but then the connection fails.

This can happen if you have a really flaky connection, however, in this case you also get often missing images or pages that won't load.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
