I'm assuming this will give us a bigger and newer toolbox if we only have TD so far. Should I try to recompile my current map with the updated/expanded toolkit? (My map is currently only lighting, geometry, and a few canned models for a reason)

Yes (recompile and you get much more assets :) A few entites and textures might have changed names, so you might see "shader missing". If your map is that simple, you probably can replace them quite quickly. Currently we do not have yet a automated way to fix such maps. Sorry

@Tels: did the Den assets go in with the SL release? I'm thinking generally anyone making a map with Den how should they be advised?

Most should have been picked up by my script, plus a few I explicitely included. However, I have not tested what happens with a map done for TD. (Lack of maps was one reason :)

As for advise, hm, they could load the map in the editor, and replace any not found textures. They also must remove manually placed candle flames (these will be automatically attached then).

Otherwise, I don't know. The first one to try will probably yell at us :)

Woohoo, gonna try the new Demo first thing when I return from uni.

I don't know how the new redesigned entityeditor looks now, but if you find an entity to be missing and can't remember which one you put there, a look into the entityeditor *should* help.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
