OMG, the Hills!

If I really want to play T1/T2 missions for a nostalgia fix, I'll open Thief up and play that mission. That way I've got the original intended kind of gameplay, and not some kind of bastardization or remake.

I believe that TDM has so much more potential than that. Take a look at the Saint Lucia release. Thief cannot recreate that kind of gameplay. No other engine can recreate that kind of gameplay. TDM is so much better than a remake: Anyone with the initiative to learn DR can make a Sneaksie, Stealsie, Backstabsie game familiar for some, but enjoyable to almost everyone.

I have to admit, Thief was excellent and I can understand your excitement.

Remading exactly same scenario and the same map of Thief series will not be meaningful. Because it is easy to guess what will be next. But if you do some changes, then it will be interesting and more than nostalgic. For instance, after several years to go same place for a mission should results different. Different objectives, storyline, enemies and their locations on the map, buildings etc. But at the same time, enviroment, some buildings, passages should remind that you had came there before. This may give very unique experience. Visiting same place after years and remembering old days... I think you understand what I mean. But as explained, it is not possible to make these. Maybe later when thief become open source, fans will make it.

Yeah, I'm a fan of spiritual remakes. Not just because of the IP issue, but you make a level come back to life with a few surprises and twists that if you played the original you could appreciate.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
