Ok, I'm going to give DR a try. Where is the download link & tutorials again? I'll also need the link for the tutorial in creating snow (since that is my favorite part in all the Thief games. I do have an odd question though.

In the T2 FM "Masque of the Red Death" the author actually got the AI's to dance. Is that possible in the Dark Mod as well? My setting is a castle, but with a night club as well. Can't have the AI's just standing there...

(Not on my machine, In Europé, but it works excellent )

My hobby built desktop is: XFX Play Hard-nVidia nForce 790i Ultra SLI

Onboard is:

CPU: Intel Socket 775

VGA: nVidia GeForce EVGA GTX-260

RAM: DDRIII 16Gb

HDD: 2 Tb

OS: 64bit Win 8.1

All service packs and latest drivers installed.

DR link:

Tutorials are on our wiki:

This tutorial will help you learn the basics http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...uide_Start_Here!

There really is no specific snow making tutorial. You could make the texture,

http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/Textures[/url]

and than make that a patch mesh

Snow works the same as rain in thiefs den, don't know if the snow particles are included in any of the releases. It should be particle tdm_snow_moderate (also ones for heavy and light snowfall) in tdm_weather.prt.

There is one dancing animation for the for the city guard in the model repository :) .

I can simply tell u how 2 add snow particle to your map. But you may not achieve it. Therefore it will be better for you to follow the links for beginners that mentioned above. There are great tutorials on wiki. It is written somewhere in wiki how to add particle but I don't remember. Besides it is better to use it for a good map cuz it gives really cool atmoshpere imo.

how to add snow particle:

just create an entity as a func_emitter, then in entity browser, add value as "model" under model folder. After creating model, select it, then you can see 2 options(choose model & choose particle). Finally you can select tdm_snow particles according to your wish.

good luck :)

A better way is to have a material that emits the particles from it's surface, just as in thief's den. I Just looked at the files released with the Saint Lucia release, and the snow texture is included with it. It's textures/darkmod/weather/snow_moderate. Weather effects are explained in Fidcal's beginners tutorial.

I'm pretty sure we removed all those a while ago; if any remain, they are also slated to be removed. It was a bad animation (not to mention a stupid concept).

There is an old map with snow as well. Not sure if it still works.

Yes but it's still in the model repository, as and mb file.

Not available for someone with only SL assets.

I assumed he would make the map without snow first; if it's half-decent he can get beta-mapper status and then have access to the snow.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
