Marble Textures...

I uploaded my marble textures that I made years ago, they are with the other marble textures. I noticed that I never had a bumpmap, so I just used one of the pitted metal ones, and it works pretty well in game.

 

There's Green, Black, White and Golden color, all are different patterns from different textures.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

aluminiumhaste, I see you added your materials to:

 

materials/ah_marble_textures.mtr

 

That file name doesn't meet the convention of having "tdm_blah" as the name, can you please fold your new material definitions into the right TDM file and get rid of ah_marble_textures.mtr? Likewisw for "ah_lion_glass.mtr". And please don't just rename them to "tdm_ah_blah", rather fold your definitions into the other files (create a new one if you think we need a new specific category :)

Thanks for catching that and raising it; agreed fully. A lot of our old materials from bc are in violation as well, but it was done long ago, and as there are hundreds it doesn't seem they'll ever change. Nevertheless we don't need to add to the problem. It's The Dark Mod, not the Joe's Textures mod. ;)

I agree completely, I did not want to add to the official material files until I got permission, so I'm guessing this is your okay to go ahead and do that lol.

I will do that as soon as I get my new laptop, I just sold my M1730, so the new one will be in in a couple of weeks.

 

EDIT: Also if anyone doesn't feel like waiting for me, please feel free to do it, I have absolutely no objections.

Done, checkout latest build, changes are in the log.

The lion glass texture is in tdm_glass (not really suitable for windows, it's translucent) and the marble textures are folded into tdm_stone_flat_smooth :)

 

BTW the new laptop ROCKS!!!

      I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

      briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
      What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
      I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

      The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )
