  1. For that I'd use a .roq movie texture. It'd come off alot smoother.
  2. YOU AWESOME BASTARD! Whoa..4 DVD's. Did you get the pack that includes the skyscapes and HDR ready textures? O.o I'd say that at the very least you should upload all the normalmapped gameready textures...cuz...you know...I want em too. Edit: NH, BT..hop on IRC right fast. We'll have a quick discussion.
  3. Yeah, it's kinda pissing me off too. We're practically sitting on a gottdamn texture goldmine here. It's got all the basics covered, all we'd have to do is provide some embellisment textures...it'd put us ahead by months, and we'd finally be able to start the mapping process way ahead of schedule. But...BUT...the guy hasn't come through yet, and it's been almost 2 months since we first contacted him. I can understand that the guy probably has a few personal issues he has to deal with, but the least he could do would be to bounce a courtesy email back to us to let us know what's going on.
  4. I can easily keep a high res backup on my comp or the FTP...it isn't much trouble to deal with. My biggest concern is how the compressed textures will respond to antialiasing/anisotropic filtering. I dunno if compression artifacts will rear their ugly head and cause weird anamolies when filtered in certain ways. After all, very few if any games have been released that have used jpeg textures exclusively, and I'm wondering if there's a reason for that beyond clarity and crispness.
  5. It's the 23...any new updates? I'm currently sitting on about $200 I can freely spend...only problem is that I haven't gotten my checkcard since I switched banks, so there's no way I can buy anything online at the moment.
  6. I can do it for you sometime next week..maybe Monday or Tuesday. What I'll do is make the diffuse and speculars JPG's, but keep the normals as TGA so as not to compromise too much on quality.
  7. Oh my gawd that's awesome. TITLE SCREEN MATERIAL! After listening to it a couple of times, it kinda reminded me of the closing scenes of Akira. Has that same airy and epic feel to it.

  9. I'd think that for the animation you'd wanna go with whatever looks the most unnerving rather than what's most realistic. Have em bend at the knees if it looks better, even if real spiders don't. As long as it looks creepy as hell then it's good.

  11. Not bad at all. He could use a little work on the lighting, but I like what he's got so far. I'm a little short on time at the moment so I can't check out the map ingame right now, but juding from the screenies I'd say he's good enough to bring onboard.
  12. It could be a problem with the alpha mask in the TGA image...could you upload the texture?
  13. Hey, if you want to use an icon for TDM besides the default Doom 3 one, you can use this... The final icon will probably look a bit different since this one doesn't scale down to 64x64 without looking like absolute ass...but it'll work for a placeholder.
  14. I'm good with that. We should find a way to pool our money together and get em mailed out to either Spar or BT since they both live nearest to the guy. The less we have to pay S&H and the faster we get them the better. If it comes to that anyway.

  16. That one on the top right looks awesome. It might be too overly complicated for an inventory item, but it'd be great as a prop.
  17. Just for a heads up, I'm gonna have alot more time next week (about damn time) so I'll probably go ahead and normalmap some of Vigil's textures.
  18. These are pretty damn nice. I like em. Might have to tweak the colors and highlights a tiny bit on some of them, but for the most part they're ready to roll.

    What really bothers me about the modern publishing system is that your work eventually becomes someone elses property. If I invent a character that is well liked and end up going through a publisher to gain a wider audience, as soon as I sign the contract that character is no longer mine. That's complete and utter bullshit, I did the work, I fleshed out the character, why should I have permission to use what I made if I wanna write a sequel? That's why I somewhat support platforms like STEAM. Flawed though it is in it's current form, it allows much more freedom in getting your ideas out to the public. If Valve handles it right we could be seeing a future of publishing without having to deal with greedy middlemen.

  21. Hmmm...guess decals slipped my mind. Go ahead and add a decal folder, we need to have one in there anyway.
  22. If you think it'll look cool in the game then take a picture of it. Whenever I get my digital camera (many moons from now), I'm gonna go ballswild. I CANNOT WAIT!
  23. It has booleans and lathes, they're buried in one of the submenus somewhere.
