  1. The tutorial is good, but I don't think it is a good idea to link against an article in a restricted section of the forum. Better to copy the content of this posting into the Wiki also.
  2. Actually I've said this all along...
  3. My Favourite is Forte Agent. It can't display HTML, so you are safe from most spams with malicious images and so on. Depends on your taste though, because some people find this quite minimalistic. If you receive an image for example, you have to click on it and open it in some other app. Since I feel that email is text and not getting bombed with graphic shit, I like it that way. It's also a good newsreader, if you care for that, as it was designed for that purpose originally.
  4. Question is, wether this would be necessary. Standard models, textures, sounds, etc. shouldn't be packaged with an FM later on. Only the ones which are not in the official release.
  5. I know that it's supposed to be moonlight, but it still wouldn't look like this, if there is a even a candle present to light the room.
  6. I have seen this before in other maps as well: http://taler.intway-russia.com/got17/DarkMod/shot00005.jpg This looks quite unrealistic to me. The room is rather small, and lit by a candel, yet the window shows a bluish tint. Also I noticed another shot, where also a bluish tint is inside, but IMO way to strong. Apart from that it really looks good.
  7. It's a free mod. What is on the agenda is what we want it to do. Since nobody with Mac experiernce showed up it's not (directly) on the agenda. Quite simple. We can hardly buy Mac machines just that this mod gets support for it. That's the nature of all free projects, isn't it? You make it sound as if we intentionaly don't support Mac which is certainly not the case. And you need a bit more coding experience thane .NET or a basic idea of C++ to make a cross platform project compile on a new target platform. A lot of the code might compile, but then we changed it quite substantially, and since we don't have anybody with Macs, it's very likely that the code will not compile out of the box, because we can't verify it.
  8. Hope it works out! Congratulations!
  9. It's not enough to install or even recompile it for Mac. There is defintely a coder needed who can adapt some small parts of the code for it regarding the lightgem. Everything else should work fine.
  10. For me you have my vote. Best contact NH to setup an apply thread.
  11. Yeah, the video is great. A bit hard to see during daylight, but what I recognized looked really good.
  12. LOL! I would understand it if they had said Russian an Polish or Czech or so, but German? I know for sure that polish and czech/slowakian is really similar, because I had a polish girlfriend once and she could easily talk with anybody in czechoslowakia (at that time). She said that the difference is like a different dialect. I once heard a similar thing about finnish and hungerian. They come from the same source, so they are supposed to be similar. My father speaks fluently hungerian, and once in the train he met some fins. He remembered that I told him about this, and he tried to talk to them, but he said that they are totally different languages and he didn't understand anything, and neither did they.
  13. Of course I can use google translations. I can also ask my russian collegue, but that would defeat the purpose. I don't just want to know what it says, I want to be able to read and speak it. I know that THEY can understand it.
  14. I managed it finally. Took me about 20 minutes. If you (can) read this, you were successfull. My current process of understanding written russian looks like this. 1. I look up every single character in a table that I found here http://www.russlandjournal.de/russisch/alphabet/ to get an estimate on how to pronounce it. This is primarily to get more used to interpreting the alphabet, because I really have a hard time reading it. 2. I write each character below the word, so that I know (more or less) how to pronounce it. 3. The I look up each word in a dictionary. Since my dictionary lacks a lot of word, I usually have to hunt them down online (I found a good one here for that purpose: http://russian.cornell.edu/rdt/index.htm). 4. Finally I try to make sense of it. Of course I could simply put the whole sentence into google translation, but that would defeat the purpose. At least I make some progress. I can already recognize some characters like ( the и ) so it helps. But it's painfully slow. I guess it will become faster once I pick up more and more. The only disadvantage is that I often don't know if the written word is spoken like I think it might. But at the moment I try to concentrate on learning some vocuablry to get me started.
  15. Good practice for me. At least I managed to understand a bit of it. But reading it is quite awkward.
  16. It just crashed firefox. Somehow I think that firefox 3 is much more unstable than before. Crashes much more often then it used to.
  17. Can you point out, where teh tutorial could be improved?
  18. Hey! We could sell this as a service and MAKE MONEY FAST$$$$ Our slogan: Got an election? TDM will win it for you. Special offers for returning customers.
  19. AAAARGGHHHH! Couldn't this have been anounced a few years earlier????
  20. So you mean they cleared out their gutters and put the bin outside?
  21. Cool! I especially like it that there is also a broken version, because we don't have much of those, and it can add a lot of believabillity in run down places.
