  1. Congratz on your first release!
  2. Never considered piling a mound of bodies on the bed or bashing someones head open since that doesn't happen in TDM. The box trigger on the bed would only be high enough for a single body laying down. Generally a black jack won't break the skin and most arrow or sword marks could maybe be covered by a conditional statement. Maybe its not feasible but there have been a number of times in FMs where someone is sleeping, you blackjack them and they're still alive, and still in bed but the guards are alerted. Seems silly.
  3. Water arrows already clean blood stains But the bed thing would take some messing around to get working, maybe.
  4. This is something I wished we had in TDM. When you knockout or kill someone, provided you water arrow the bloodstain in the second instance, and then drag them up in to a bed, they "appear" to be sleeping and guards shouldn't notice. I don't know if this is something you can do with a boundry box on the bed which sets the AI state to ignore if the character in question is knocked out or dead. Maybe as a mapper this could be scripted or set up with the stim/response system. Would be neat though.
  5. lol? I'm not sure how to take a response like that as I'm not riled up. I do apologize if the post came across that way. I'm just direct, not involved ::thumb:: mmmk? @Bikerdude I do take your point on paid software as very valid, I'll concede that. I've used other free variants of AV and I've found Avast to be a great "free option". I've not had a virus on a PC since... I couldn't even tell you, >10 years (though now that I've said that I've probably hexed myself!). I don't own a cellphone so for me running any AV on a mobile device is a mute point but with their portability and "ease of access"... I'd definitely want an iron curtain on any portable device if I owned one. I had no idea you could get a fully fledged AV solution these days for $10 either. The last time I seriously looked at them they were in the $60-80 range which was a long time ago (you can laugh), and installed a bunch of bloated garbage. I will take a look around at some paid stuff if its gotten less expensive. What are your opinions on Bitdefender? I downloaded their "free" package about a week er so ago but haven't gotten around to swapping yet. I will look at their paid stuff though in this new light. There are obviously articles like this out there but personal experience and opinions still matter. I downloaded Bitdefender because in the last month or so, Avast has added a daily pop-up ad (which you can't disable) and add-in programs like, "Grime Fighter" (horrible unintelligent software). edit: -snip- EDIT: According to this, AVG free and Ad-Aware free 10.5 do what appears to be a pretty good job compared to everything out there, even paid solutions. They don't do as well however in other tests. AVG seemed to score well across the board though.
  6. By the sound of it, you still need a pop filter or your mouth is too close to the mic or ...something. Some of them are borderline ok but there's just too much breath hitting the mic.
  7. What does that mean? It works fine with DR here on Win7 x64. I wouldn't personally recommend Norton or McAfee (both bloated). Kaspersky makes a great product however what is wrong with "free" anti-virus? Nothing at all IMO. I've never had a single issue running Avast and have for over 8 years. Prior to that I ran AVG. #1, any anti-virus is better than none. #2, nothing wrong with free antivirus, they run off the same definitions as the paid versions. They may not have all the browser extras, safe this and that, but if you're an informed user these things aren't needed. What's up with that, Bikerdude? I'm just curious. Also, Goldwell, did you restart the computer prior to reinstall? Closing DR completely, all instances, and reinstalling after a restart?
  8. Sounds like the Sound Blaster Crystal Voice "Alien Infitrator" effect was applied to it. The effect seems a tad strong for my liking. Is the 'snorting' sound in the default audio?

  10. You ran virus scans but did you do a malware sweep? This sounds like that to me. Run Malwarebytes or SpybotSearchandDestroy if you have not. 127.0.0.1 localhost is just a loopback address for localhost which is your computer. Its a common address and correct. The "#" symbol in that file is the marker for a "comment" line so no worries there. You can comment out that line but it should have no effect as the localhost address is 127.0.0.1. That enables you to type http://localhost in your browser address bar and connect to a web server service if you're running one. Put a # sign in front of it as I don't imagine you're running a server and its commented out in the default config. You might try backing up your bookmarks, uninstalling Firefox and Chrome, deleting the directories, restarting, reinstalling FF or Chrome. Do you also get this behavior in Internet Explorer?
  11. Remind me not to volunteer for beta testing on this map, AB.
  12. Eliminate the easy stuff first. You already restarted your router/modem. Hopefully you have your settings for your router backed up. Do a hard reset on the router back to system defaults. Test at defaults. Load your settings and test again. If you haven't updated firmware on your router, might as well do it if the above doesn't address the issue. Takes no time at all and could fix a corrupted firmware. Scan for virii/malwares.
  13. A bit of an over reaction don't you think? Clearly this isn't happening. I know Sotha, I know.
  14. These pictures look like the side streets of Monaco. Similar to some pictures I was using to create what I thought would be my first map. Organic lines and flow. I eventually shelved it after 60+ hours of work and decided to "start small" and make a mission that is a pre-cursor to the one above so that I can get a feel for working with DR and its limitations and my own limitations. My only issue is now my smaller current map is so blocky I don't even want to look at it and I'm considering starting over on it and making things a bit more organic on it as well. There are many things to do to create an FM, from the architecture, story, loot placement, decoration, detail, and decals, lighting, AI pathing and placement, briefing and objectives, etc. and not having a lot of knowledge on these things and how they're implemented and the dependencies between each as far as the overall mission structure goes is a good reason why starting small is the way to go for your first map.
  15. As Bikerdude has suggested, the first place to start is checking and ridding the system of malware/viruses. Going from "everything is working" to "now its not", this is usually the case.
  16. I don't have a lot of mapping experience but from what I have done and the first map I created in particular, this can cause huge issues if you have clipped brushes on angles to fit other brushes (roof tops). The clipper clips along the line you select for the roof top brush and then the wall brush is clipped to fit exactly against it and when its selected and "snapped to grid" it unaligns all of these cases and either overlaps, which is usually fine, or creates gaps, which is not. Then you have to go through the entire map and fix these instances individually. Granted, there are other ways to create this geometery that won't suffer this issue but I would say to use this method with extreme caution and check everything directly afterward so you can Undo if needed or you could be creating a ton of work for yourself.
  17. Honestly, that is hilarious when scrolling down from Springheel's pic... lol
  18. Automatic?? Oooo we like that even better! Awesome!
  19. Wouldn't it be peachy if when you selected the model in the map and then clicked the assign lod stage button, the LOD tab ONLY showed lod models for the selected model? Using a regex or similar to filter the list to the selected model name.
  20. This is a fantastic FM through and through. Completed on Ulysses difficulty. The atmosphere, mood, and audio put this FM in my top 5 for sure. The experienced mappers around here keep raising the bar and never cease to amaze me with what they put together. Hats off to you Sotha! Thanks, Sotha!
