New mobo just arrived. MSI Z97 Gaming 3. If the used CPU (i7 4770) and RAM (32G 1600MHz) are good, this is going to be one interesting night.
I have an SSD drive and an 1TB WDC Black drive are waiting in the wings as well. GeForce GTX 780 is already working, but currently on 5 year old hardware. Tonight all that changes. Fingers Crossed. I'm Going In.-

Who knows... to make people aware, to be assholes, I'm sure they have a proposed purpose which makes utterly no sense. Didn't you go to school with some people that were assholes just to be assholes? There are good things to draw from it, similar to virus/malware. It progresses the state of the art. It could just be that, the "yang" of nature, forcing the progression of learning.

I had an odd bug last year for 6 weeks. Get some broad spectrum antibiotics or a Z-pack and wipe that shit out. It sucks to feel under the weather. Get well.

lost_soul's half-assed solution of the day: There's a hard drive with over 100 bad sectors, making everything run EXTREMELY SLOW. Instead of swapping out the hard drive, I moved the OS to the later half, away from the bad sectors! Now it runs fast and fine!

That could be a harbinger of bricked drive to come.
Also, running a full format on the drive should mark and bad sectors and never write to them so you can use the remainder of the drive but as mentioned above, if its an older drive, it may be going to the grave.

So my 'Abandoned' city map grew too big and TDM couldn't dmap it - crashes every time on my old 2 GB RAM pc. One year later I've bought finally new one with 8GB RAM, 32 bit Win7 used only 3 GB of it and dmap still crashes. Installed 64 bit Win7 -dmap finally is able to swallow big map, but Dark Radiant crashes at start. One day later Win7 "found out" it lacks service pack, installed it and now finally all works. One problem solved, thousand more waits in line.

My progress has stalled not through lack of enthusiasm or running into problems, it's just through lack of preparation :-/ I booked a hotel with decent wifi this week but forgot to copy my new particle shaders to my usb fob when I copied my debug builds. And the ancient laptop I borrowed from my mum now refuses to launch TDM for some mysterious reason so I haven't even been able to test anything. Installing anything on this coal-fired beast takes 20 mins so trying to fix it is a depre...

Installing yet another free trial from lightwave. Gonna start working again today. I hope 4gb RAM will get the job done for now.

RAM is the CPU's workspace. I would think that regardless of whether an application uses GPU compute, the majority of data will be loaded in RAM first for fast access either by the CPU or GPU.

It will tide you over. Worst case scenario, the OS needs more RAM allocated and it will page to your hard drive which will be slow as hell but it won't prevent you from working.

Even though I NEVER smoke and I have had alcohol perhaps 4 times, they say I have high blood pressure. If I'm gonna be punished even when I stay away from those things, why not just go on a binge? I guess its because Alcohol tastes like **** and smoking ****s up the lungs.

I have very low blood pressure, drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney. Yay for me
When I've been in the hospital for surgery the doctors always see my blood pressure and say, "ohh! we have an athlete here!" LOLHBP is generally hereditary.
