  1. Here is the last preview image from Penny Dreadful 3. Why the last? Because there have already been many, and because I am reasonably close to wrapping up major architecture work. Why a preview image then? Because I have surpassed 10,000 brushes, and because it is Christmas! Therefore:
  2. This is not meant to be a beginners' mission (although let's face it, TDM will mostly be played by Thief vets), so we just want to make a campaign that's memorable and fun. It is a prologue mission because it is not connected to the main storyline. Otherwise, ironically, it is one of the largest missions we have produced so far - the rest are large enough, but most are just slightly smaller than this one.
  3. Here is one, straight from the horse's mouth. (Inasmuch Purah is a horse. )
  4. That building is a model, so yes. Until someone produces a higher-res skin, that is.
  5. The three versions you suggest would be excellent. It would be better not to have standout guild symbols or iconography on them (although, for example, some of our dials read "Dark Engineering Guild", IIRC), since then they can be used in many different contexts by mission authors. They can add their own signage if they want to.

    DrK is back!

Because the last Rocksbourg mission was released more than seven years ago?
  7. So I just spent thirty minutes looking for my Thief Gold box, which was in plain sight on a bookshelf all along. I even inspected its area twice, but didn't find it due to its black box. I swear that thing was hiding in the shadows. :o

Maybe there was something wrong with the frob highlight? ^^

There was certainly no loot glow around it!

  8. Epifire: Awesome work! Precisely the kind of model we need more of for TDM. I would suggest making versions with multiple skins if it is possible.
  9. No prob, I downloaded it on my work connection, and I'm good.
  10. There isn't. But if you just put things away very quickly, they don't highlight you much.
  11. I think the old bearded guy is a prime candidate for a wizened, scary old corpse.
  12. Ymir: That is a good idea, and how most of us are doing it. If you wish, you can update your initial missions later when you have had some more practice (Bikerdude and Sotha have done the same). You can also start with initial, mission-by-mission releases, and package the missions as a campaign when you are finished (as is the case with No Honour Among Thieves). You don't really need programming experience to create missions (I have none, and am from a non-tech background), but the mindset can help.
  13. Figures. Don't remember it exactly, but it is possible I have never done a fresh install since 1.0. Or standalone? Well, theeeere goes my monthly bandwidth.
  14. Yes, that seems to be my problem. The bug affects two stock textures, textures/darkmod/stone/sculpted/grey_block_trim and textures/darkmod/window/metal_diamond_pattern3_selflit. However, only the first has its creation date set to 2088, according to the bug description. What an odd thing.
  15. The newest from Penny Dreadful 3 (at 9355 brushes and increasing):
  16. I have been experiencing this bug for a while now. Some of the textures in my mission have turned into a weird black colour, as if only the specularmap was visible. I am at odds about what is causing it. Any idea?
  17. If you know what you are doing, no more than two or three days. The results probably wouldn't look very good, but it would have the essentials.
  18. Creepy! Has a hint of burrick in it with the infernal wheezing, and sounds decidedly unnatural. On another note, yesterday evening, I was replaying Midnight in Murkbell, and it struck me how good the custom zombie lines in the mission made the map. "I ammmm the chiiild of Alcandor!" and so on.
  19. Welcome! You do not need any specific skill to learn editing (I didn't have any when I started), only inspiration and perseverance. However, note that making a full campaign is already a hard task, and making one with your own models, sounds and animations is a major undertaking even for a group of people. Many have tried, most have failed. I would strongly advise you to start with one small or medium-sized mission first, and try to limit the extra resources. Once you have a better grasp of editing, you will know how much work you can realistically do, and build your missions one by one. The best start is the A-Z tutorial, which helps you build a simple beginner's mission. Fidcal's guide to mapping is a handy reference. There are some good beginner tips here. I also had a thread here on building quick, beginner-friendly mission design using prefabs. Understanding visportals is very important for performance! It can be useful to use the Startpack map when you begin your mission, since it has the essentials included. And of course, it never hurts to look at maps others have built to see how they did things. (They did not always do things optimally!)

Ha ha! I'm still working on my Halloween Contest mission! I've come to the conclusion that I'm physically and mentally incapable of completing a mission in 2 weeks ...

I am not a machi.... ... Anyway, I really am not a machine. Started this mission in October 2014, and didn't progress with it through most of the Spring and Summer. Things are going fine now, however.

  21. DarkRadiant is already a robust and functional editor - much more stable than Dromed ever was (not knocking it, but it is held together by spit and pieces of duct tape). Any further development is gravy.
  22. If that request is wrong, I don't want to be right! (But sadly, it is already the plot of A Score to Settle, kinda.)
