Well, my thought and 2 cents is that even when EAX comes out, as with TDS there might be situations where EAX has an effect on performance. Some people might want that turned off for example. In Thief EAX was more of a layer on the cake because the sounds were awesome as they were. But hey, perhaps I'm just too rushed and rude here with this. Sounds and music are such an individual thing of taste.
-
Wait a sec, how then do we explain extremely loud footsteps in the classic Thief games? You do recognize that in TDS footsteps are much milder in comparison (even though still retaining an inherent reverb, even without EAX)?

If anyone is from Nordic countries, tell us how that works out. Sounds like a communist narrative. If a bum asks for money, what's the chance he won't spend them on booze? Better give him food and a job. But money is seldom a great choice. And it's sad. There's a thing called consciousness. And everyone's mind will listen.

I don't know how other people feel but sounds are jucier and better if they have more reverb by default. The thing is that even in the Thief games they had more reverb, and that's why they sounded so great. Even without EAX. That's what TDM is lacking and that's what it needs. The jump sound on wood needs more variations. Curently running/walking on wood is more similar to the sounds in TDS. Not bad either. but the jump sounds needs adjustment. With the exception of all this, I appreciate the current sounds in this package with disctinction

I'm not sure the start of the discussion is correct. Is genetic equality even a thing? Only in communism people are presumed equal. Is the conclusion we're going to having a "us vs. them" rethoric? The folly that we can be lead to is that apriori all low class genes have no guilt and should not have no obligation or incentive to overcome their condition. In consequence all upper class genes = evil because we can't change them. Division is always present but it depends where you live to figure the proportions. Even Switzerland has foreign people working almost slave labour for quick money to bring to their home country, and the family they are feeding might be trying to breakthrough into middle class or even upper class given the initiative, the effort and honest work. Therefore it's definitely exaggerated here again. It's bad in China/Russia and elsewhere but the world's not perfect The poor are not stuck in feudalism. The caste thing works in India. The ones who care about themselves and want something better can work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Then leave something for social security and get well deserved rest. After that maybe try something else in life. Develop themselves personally and whatnot. Aren't people like Rob Dougan supposed to inspire for that? https://robdougan.wordpress.com/ That's what matters. You can't save everyone and not everyone wants to be saved. Inevitably there's always going to be people who want a freebie. And we can't do anything about that. Much less is my wish to have them rule us if the next revolution comes.

Sad conclusions. How then the oligarchy in Russia and China survived if we took genocide on all the aristocracy? Nomenclature and upper class people can often be as ill-fated as a bum. Junkie senator's son is as equal in an overdose as a lowlife gets in a convulsion. Can't beat the enigmatic cycles of life. And life is beautiful!

Not fair. Some people map without ever releasing a map. Discrimination.

Hey there was somewhere around here a mod for Doom 3 that turns it into an Arx Fatalis inspired free mod total overhaul. Don't have time to try it out but might note it to myself if anyone else here wants to see what's the hype all about and/or if it's better or not than the original Arx Fatalis.

It's not about a witch hunt against heretics of TDM canon gospel. You can do it if you think it's right but at it's your own risk of presenting it properly for the audience and to do the packaging/encrypting properly. There's nothing wrong with it essentially if it doesn't hurt how the mission loads, what would it be performance wise. But as it's not an established practice, nobody will do it on the main team as it's not in plans. At your own discretion starting from the CC clauses and know clearly where the limits are.

George Webb. Ex Dutch Intelligence and World Hero
Anderson replied to nbohr1more's topic in Off-Topic
Ok so George Webb is allied with whom exactly? The GOP and a supporter of Trump if I understand correctly against Clinton? -
Yes they do. Both FM's. But in The Requeim there is also some tracks that are public domain from Vox Vulgaris (maybe only one, I think it's La Suite Meurtriere in the tavern at the start of the FM).

Google Drive, OneBox.

Yes it has. Because it's directly related to the intelligence level of any human in any evolutionary stage, to their level or social organization and ability to adapt strongly enough to migrate and survive. The theories on how they migrated are all based on presumptions and speculation when it comes to migration to the Americas. And new evidence will always be scarce because it's buried under the sea and whatnot.
-
That's exactly why I ask. Because I don't believe they migrated each time on obscure islands from ships made of animals hides and tied lumber before 5000 or 10000 B.C. Not at those distances without being developed communities first of all, and developed communities only started appearing at least with Mesopotamia started developing strongly at least around this time. Are we really suggesting that each continent and small island was populated by insanse travelling expeditions just for curiousity sake before states started to consolidate properly? No society that hasn't built a state by that time wouldn't be able to build those kind of ships. These are huge gaps to connect logically and has yet to be provided with evidence. I emphasise this to show that the human evolutionary theory is in its current form the same make believe as religion. Without conclusive evidence it is just as the name implies - a theory. No reason to accept it just because it's more likely than other theories. Not something that can be said about the evolutionary theory as a whole however.
-
The pertinent point here is that there is no clear moment when that thing became human and what is distinct that allows us to name it as such. Different from ape. Another point for the human evolutionary theory that I can't tie in is how evolution happened in the same way for apes on the American Continent, in Asia, Africa and Europe in the same way and the exact same outcome? Panagaea as one continent was ripped at least 175 million years ago. Well before they presumably evolved in what exists now. What's the likelihood evolution is so intelligent or whatever to have had the circumstance and coincidence for all apes of that missing species to evolve in the same humans for what would later be Mayas and Aztecs in America, for the natives of Peru, for Africans, Asians, Japanese, Australians and so on? They were separate during all those years and had no way to reach out or connect. Are there really supposed to be that many coincidences?

Could you please put the latest download in the thread #1 post? I'd like to have them here as an easy reference for whenever/if something happens to my TDM copy. I also find that the new sounds are better than stock TDM ones because they have more reverb, and that's exactly what all sounds in Thief games had even without EAX/OpenAL.
-
Muslims say we were made from clay if you like it better. Also, why do we evolutionarily need beards? They make you worse in a fight, don't help against cold and most girls find them repulsive. Apes didn't have them. Evolution is hard to understand sometimes. It's all full of maybe's and possibilities.

There's actually nothing wrong with it considering Thief Deadly Shadows went great on the old Xbox. It's not an FPS after all, precision of a mouse is not a life and death matter as it would be for shooters.

"Besides similarities in anatomy and behavior, our close biological kinship with other primate species is indicated by DNA evidence. It confirms that our closest living biological relatives are chimpanzees and bonobos, with whom we share many traits. But we did not evolve directly from any primates living today. DNA also shows that our species and chimpanzees diverged from a common ancestor species that lived between 8 and 6 million years ago. The last common ancestor of monkeys and apes lived about 25 million years ago." Until that ancestor is found, the evidence is not conclusive. The only way to know for sure is to clone the ancestors. It's like the infinity of the universe. We presume it might be infinite, but we can't know for sure. We can believe in it. But it can't be proven until we go to it's known edges.

Yeah, I just thought what would it sound like to have different sounds from TDM and how it would come together. Both Thief and Deus Ex had great footstep sounds. Kind of a big deal when these are a frequent addition to the game process.
