  1. That's a shame! The last thing nbohr1more wrote was this, and I assumed this was to end up in the main mod. Maybe I'll have to bug them again if it is possible to inlcude this in my patch instead... Sent 15 June 2018 - 05:32 PM I'll compile a local copy later this weekend. It may take me time to grok what's been done here. I've added Obsttorte since he's more of a GUI specialist than I and might be able to offer feedback more quickly. Edit: Now the coffee is sinking in. Yes, we need to update the GUI to match your backend variables which are now more in line with the functions we need. I got it.
  2. I have been asking for something like this for a long time, there is even a bug tracker for it. My reason was that the training missions have no ending! We almost got it working with the help of Durandall and nbohr1more, but then we stopped because we would need some overall GUI improvements. I don't know if they are planned for 2.07, guys are you reading this?
  3. This sounds like a good plan to me. I have the impression that a lot is going on regarding the TDM engine, so why not go this route and maybe concentrate on actually doing one new TDM version. It seems there are a BFG edition and a VR edition in the works as well...
  4. Yeah, and finally give me the "Download all missions" button and a way to manually set missions to finished that have no way to do so, like the training !
  5. There are more, like the whole Source engine community from Half-Life 2 to VTM Bloodlines. Sure there is the occassional new model, but all the maps are done with brush work! And in fact I don't know about any games having such a dedicated group of fans still making maps...
  6. Isn't one of the reasons why TDM uses idtech4 that is has the best real-time lighting and shadows? I think later idtech engines went backwards and I can't remember ever seeing an Unreal engine game really showing convincing stuff in that direction. But maybe this changed with Unreal 4...
  7. I think the Ocean House mission in VTM Bloodlines is another good example. Your job seems to be easy: get a pendant out of a spooky mansion so the ghosts can be exorcised. Only inside you notice that there are two ghosts, one helping you and one hindering you, and while they can't hurt you themselves, they can by using the environement, like dropping things on you. And of course there is a nasty backstory with a lot of things hinted at by newspapers, but the bloody details left to your imagination...
  8. Interesting. If there are many projects like this, Bikerdude, why don't you go and finish them? You said you deleted all of your current work anyway .
  9. The latter would mean changing specific missions which the patch does not do. But it also makes it possible to exstinguish more small lamps...
  10. I understand, but on the other hand if Bikerdude is known to be carried away, you should not give him your map to optimize. I have the same issue with someone in Bloodlines, he can optimize maps nicely, but he can't stop to add details here and there! So when I don't want that, I just don't give him the map source: game over.
  11. In that case you might want to try out my TDM Unofficial Patch which removes the annoying immunity-when-alerted-state for all normal guards !

  13. This is exactly how I understood it (and I had the same problems with people helping me with new Bloodlines maps), but still, the original author can always say whether the original version or an updated version comes on the download list, no? Or could Bikerdude do this himself too?
  14. I don't think the issue here is anyone actually stealing a mission. I guess Bikerdude is just a perfectionist who likes to improve on other people's work, even if told to not do so. As far as I know any new mission must be included into the download list by someone from the team, so if the original author doesn't want an update by whomever, he should just tell the team member this and the modified map will not be included in the official list. Problem solved!
  15. I have just read the hidden paragrah Bikerdude added to his first posting and just want to say one thing: Bikerdude, please try to get SteveL to come back! After you apologized to everyone else here, maybe you can work it out with him too...
  16. If they don't know they love Stealth, Steam would not suggest TDM anyway. The last AAA game similar to TDM was the Dishonored series, in which stealth was not only possible but favored too! Is there any way to connect TDM with Dishonored on YouTube or elsewhere?
  17. Yeah, but how many of those players of all Thief games don't know about TDM already? Also the people wanting everything on Steam are usually the worst technical speaking and can't do anything on their computer unless Steam does it for them. I know this from experience with my Bloodlines patch, each time there is a sale, there are dozends on new players not able to install an executable to the right place or check the readme for help! I wouldn't dare to think what they'd say to the TDM auto-updater or the mission downloader unless this has been included in a Steam workflow as well ...
  18. Maybe, but there is a retro movement going on in gaming too and lots of RPGs e.g. come out in the old isometric view. Still I recently read that with the new buy-your-shit-game-directly-onto-Steam approach about 180 new games get released per week, so TDM would have gone under there anyway...
  19. You really should try my TDM Unofficial Patch, if you have not already, it helps with black jacking a lot and exstinguishing more light sources makes the game easier as well! So I recently played this mission as well and was able to black jack everyone on Easy before I entered the catacombs so no enemies for the revenants were left...
  20. For me most of the time it's knock out everybody and leave chests and shelves open to show that I already was in that room. But then I extinguish every candle and oillight I can for much the same reason and to not be surprised in an area I already have been...
  21. I never connected "Unofficial Patch" with development being abandoned, but then it isn't really a patch as it does more than just fix things. I choose the name out of habit and I'm open to other suggestions! I didn't really like yours though ...
  22. I just finished this great little mission while testing my Unofficial Patch. Everything worked fine on easy, but I had to check in here for the secret button as I suspected the frobable empty holder like Springheel. Maybe you should place a candle there on all difficulties! Also I had problems jumping from the first ladder to enter the high ground. Maybe something can be done there to make it easier. Last not least the voice over in the intro was rather quiet so I didn't get the connection between the Elixir and the painting. What was that all about? I would rather make stealing the formula and the sample the main objectives and turn the painting into normal loot...
  23. The holy water damage wasn't changed at all, only the means to apply it which shouldn't affect immunities. The same should be true for blackjack-immune enemies. I think the order in which these things are handled are map>folder>pk4, so as my version is folder based any map changes should surpass it. Also I already noted when testing my patch that several enemies are still immune, most obviously the elite guards although they have the immune flag revoked.
  24. Thanks, I didn't even know this existed . Of course if other ideas come up that can easily be implemented without changing the core game, I would be interested in adding them to the patch. Just recently I tried to add a button to the GUI to manually finish a mission in case it can't (like the training missions) and I would also like to have a "Download all new missions" button, but even with the help of Obsttorte, nbohr1more and Durandall we couldn't figure this out, so this might be something for the core game unless somebody has a solution!
  25. As I wrote elsewhere already, once an enemy weapon is out it's very hard to blackjack, but in the short time while they are busy drawing, it often works nicely !
