I rather have a tag-cloud on top, with years, authors, etc. (might become too big though).

Would be neat to have a horizontal list of years where you can scroll through (with left and right arrows). When you click on a year, you get a list of all the missions of that year.

If you just change sort-by-name to sort-by-year-than-name, you'll probably meet resistance

But if you add some buttons for different sorting orders, then everyone will be happy.
