  1. I can't help but think that the current zombies all look embalmed... If it had something to do with the mission I've been working on, I'd personally try and give it a new skin, but I need to focus on the essentials.
  2. The millions of tons of concrete, and heavy building materials various others are a little far fetched. It would have been more believable if it was made from more wood, steal, and other such lighter metalials. But who cares, it's Bioshock, I can't wait Specially to see how they've done all the art and effects.
  3. Ahh, thanks, turning bloom off worked. I should have know Cheers
  4. Lol thanks, my strength in modding comes from my knowledge of tools like photoshop, 3ds max and zbrush Not so much with doom 3 itself, but I'll learn as I go. I've tested it, but let's turn this into a PM discussion shall we Check your inbox.
  5. Cool, is there some way I can see load it up and see the results? I'll send you the plan so you can have an understanding of the sort of stuff we need.
  6. Thanks for replying. My specs are thus: -Windows 7 pro -Sapphire 5850 -Screen = 1680 by 1050 This is the Doomconfig.cfg file in the Wrathchild directory And this is the autoexe.cfg in the base directory of my doom 3 folder @Domarius The guy said in a topic where he posted all of his files that you had to install version 1.01 then install a 1.02 patch, so if that's what you mean by (SVN) sub version I still wouldn't know what to do Not anything to do with 'purge'ing and 'resynch'ing at any rate... sorry for my limited knowledge
  7. There's a mod that tries to imitate dues ex and system shock game-play called Wrathchild. I'd really like to give it a try but every time I start, I can only see half the screen. I tried playing around with some of the cfg options, eg aspect ration, screen resolution etc and got no where. Then I tried matching my current resolution with a perfect match (1680 by 1050) And no i can only see roughly the bottom half of the screen As far as I know, the mod uses Denton's mod to look better. I tried playing denton's mod separately and found that i got the same screen problem, so i removed the denton's mod pk4 from the Wrath child directory and the only change I got was that it loaded faster. Has anyone ever heard of such a problem? I contacted the guy on his site and didn't get a reply. I guess one of you might more more likely to have played with Denton's mod and not Wrathchild.
  8. I'm glad to see someone interested in helping, but the problem is, neither me nor jdude know anything about scripting (I dunno maybe jdude knows a little ) So even with what you've given me, I still wouldn't have the faintest clue of what to do with it, which is a shame since you seemed to have put quite a bit of work into it. Unless you'd be a pal and help implement it It's for a good cause! Otherwise, thanks for going to the trouble. maybe I can just go around hounding different programmers until I get one that wants to help, that's how I got jdude doing the mapping
  9. Top 1 reply to add to a very complex and intelligible debate on the forums: 1. Penis
  10. Finally had time to sit down and play this Fantastic. The underwater mushrooms were a little weird, but apart from that, really nice and I think your defiantly in for the running.
  11. Exactly, I had a look around earlier and found out that there's a pretty functional one in the wrathchild mod Click here for to see what i mean However, 1: It looks funny the way it is appearing in real time as though We're looking through a new aged shop window, 2: It'd look COMPLETELY out of place in the dark mod.
  12. Well I was thinking, just have everything on the bottom of the screen, and when the character speaks, the text is something personal to that character, like an associated colour, or a font that looks like their handwriting. Or to simplify it, when talking to another person, they have one colour, and when you talk, you have another so that the whole thing can be below the NPC and so that you can see them and the background clearly, but not so much above the character so that your eyes don't have to dart around the screen. EDIT: also, initially i was thinking about Oblivion when i brought this up, but i realised that time stops and you zoom in on their face when you speak to them which is probably not characteristic of the sneaky and dynamic gameplay.
  13. Hello, I'm planning an FM and I think given the nature of it's size it'd really benefit from a dialogue interface to add a a bit of immersion to an otherwise short mission. The dialogue will be used locate an item with the help of a shady character on the street, then to trick someone into thinking that you are someone else while giving them instructions to make some guards move away from that item. I wonder If anyone would be willing to lend a hand? I need it to be something like the book interface but not obstructing your view, where the turn page button gives you more chat options but you can use the arrow keys to select a topic. And if possible activate actual speech coming from the NPC (with lip sink and audio from their direction) The aim of the fan mission is to try and make the dark mod look especially good, so if you want to help and can script, that'd be great.
  14. What a mess nobody intends to fold, and several forums members have become a lot less respected by either side. Common guys, I think this topic is a little too sensitive too continue with, I don't like to think of how bad it could get. Too many more topics of this nature are going to leave us bitter for each other. Nobody will win, because nothing has changed, and we've both been given the shit end of the stick. Religion is not just someone's way of life, it is their world, their life ambitions, their reason to live, they're not going to give it up for anything. Please everyone put their pride aside like I have for the sake of rationality. I really think this thread has run it's life.
  15. I really like what Outlooker said at the top of the page. Speaking of Irrationality which was mentioned earlier, I think it Irrational to bash religion of all kind when it was religion that stopped us acting like animals*. when you waste your energy hating someone's beliefs, what is it that makes you care? would you ever think about it unless someone came up to you and asked you what you thought to test whether you were cool enough to be part of their world? or if some extremist came up to you and shoved it down your throat? Believe it or not, not everyone religious is extremist. I think the question that most heavy duty atheist aught to be asking themselves is, "why is it that christians, jews, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus etc annoy me so much? is it just because i think they're wrong or is there something more to it" Perhaps you'll be surprised to relief yourself of your anger when you can appreciate the what good it does. Just think about those things prevented that would otherwise rip apart the fabric of society if it weren't for people like one long haired dude who MAY or MAY NOT have been the son of God who in turn may or may not have excised: -Murder -Injustice -adultery -Lying/cheating (at least worldly things like currency and matters of universal acknowledgement) -taking what's not yours to take (for the most part ) Because in the end, there will always be religion, so what's the point in a never ending battle? So is it rational for some people to believe in religion? why not? if no one believed in religion, what a dark world we'd be in, would it still exist? This world we live in (and I must stress 'live' in) is a world full of religion and consequently people who have past down the tradition of loving each other and all of that have shared it with the world. Logically we might have advanced but probably not before we'd killed each other. Progression should be measured in interaction with each other as well as in technology and science. *Baring people who kill people in the name of their god, and....Scientology
  16. I won't be able to play this for about 2 weeks because of my trial exams... damn. will the contest still be open by then? I'd love to be able to rate this.
  17. DUDE crayon physics is AWESOME I stumbled upon it a while ago and had a blast, luckily I have a cintiq 12wx so I was able to enjoy it more.
  18. http://freetextures.3dtotal.com/index.php This is a pretty good place for textures, there's plenty of medieval themed stuff.
  19. The first song sounded alright, but needs a change in melody halfway in, and it could be used for a mission briefing that involves death/darkness/misery Your second one is good, but again you should variate the melody/rhythm a little to make it sound a little more interesting, I suggest intensifying the beat/making it faster/ perhaps a few double/tripple beats to spice it up, with some different sounding melody in addition to that little sound that I'm hearing in between beats, and i suggest a stronger sounding melody after what you've got there so what you've got could be an intro, except shortened a little. that would make it sound better in my opinion. Also the melody seems a little out of place with the grungy mechanic beat, If I were you, I'd go for a more menacing/forboding/energising tone, like the intro after the symphony part to Rob Dugan's 'Clubbed to death'. after And that also sounds like mission briefing music. I would put it in a mission that's dangerous/exciting/mechanist etc... And that being said, it's not as much something that you should give to the team but instead make it available to Fan mission makers. Maybe make a pack of your sounds and request that it's put in the downloads section along with the others, but first I think you may need to work on the songs a little more. If you take out the air in the background from the second one and improve it a little, It'd be great, and I wouldn't mind using it.
  20. Nosslak, If you really want to get into the whole dark mod groove, then I highly suggest you play theif 1 and 2, if not theif 1, then theif 2 which is the best in my opinion. I think there are packs that upgrade the quality of models and textures or though personally I haven't bothered. If you want to play a mission that looks great for a theif game, don't go past "Rose Cottage" And conspiracies in the dark is also very cool These are my favourite missions. Trust me, you will actually learn something about the unique style of gameplay that is offered by thief. TDS may look pretty, but give thief 2 a chance to grow on you. I was sceptical about playing system shock 1 because of the doom-like graphics, but I played it and finished it recently and couldn't be happier for opening my mind, it was unique and addicting, a hidden gem! I'd rather play it than a newer game like dead space anyday. not that I didn't enjoy that game
  21. Thanks Arcturus, I think I'll end up needing this kind of help
