  1. UPDATE I checked the Let's Play on youtube for this mission; indeed, it DOES come with a blackjack and sword. However, that's not working for me. I tried restarting with different difficulty levels, tried uninstalling the mission and reinstalling... no matter what, my TDM doesn't give me these implements for Briarwood Manor. I even tried an entirely different mission to check if my TDM is globally glitched... alas, the sword and blackjack work for other missions. Just *not* Briarwood Manor, which is very perplexing. Anyone have an idea?
  2. I hate to bring up a probably small and inconsequential issue, but I've experienced an odd bug in this mission. I'm using TDM version 2.05, of course. In the bathroom, trying to read the newspaper seems to lock the inventory; e.g. cannot turn lamp on or off, cannot use any items, etc. It's virtually game-breaking. Obviously the solution is not to frob the paper but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Has anyone else experienced this? And great mission thus far, man! (While I'm at it, playing on Hard Difficulty I don't start with a blackjack or anything other than water arrows. Where might I find the blackjack? :-)
  3. Well, "The Crucible of Omens" is supposed to be an official campaign but only the first of a planned 7 or 8 missions has been released. It's understandable given the ambition and depth of the work, of course. But I wish there'd be some updates on it
  4. I think there should be state programs that teach autistic men how to get a gril (respectfully, of course.) I'm not even being snide or callous saying this, seeing how I myself have a lot of autistic traits (probably on the spectrum, even if not diagnosed.) And it's just unfathomably hard to attract women being socially awkward; the other way autism screws you, is it's brutally hard to even take the steps to meet women; and if that weren't enough, rejection sensitivity is very common for autistic men, which makes it all the more worse given rejection is the only thing we can ever expect to get. So, that's why there should be programs to help with this, otherwise a lot of autistic men are going to be endlessly lonely and frustrated, which ends up turning into self-loathing.... not good. I'll say I don't like that "most common" suggestion I've seen about this, I'll just say I find the implications insulting, I'll leave it at that.
  5. I'm afraid I haven't much to offer other than to say... it sounds hella cool. But the problem is I don't think TDM is currently capable of implementing your vision. You may have to offer some practical solutions for representing these creatures; even the setting sounds difficult.
  6. I appreciate the effort, but better formatting would help a lot. Please break the one very long (wall of text) paragraph down into smaller paragraphs. Perhaps then some folks would comment or offer suggestions, etc.
  7. Personally I would like to see some levels with more of a Persian or perhaps Ottoman-like aesthetic. Excessively intricate tile patterns, bright colors with jarring contrasts, loads of geometric tessellations, etc.
  8. You seem like a good writer with some interesting ideas. If you're not able to build a Fan Mission based around these concepts, my suggestion is to pen a short story or two, which may act as inspiration for another builder. You seem to have a Lovecraftian sensibility which may translate very well for the right kind of mission; I think several FMs are inspired by his work, in fact.
  9. I thought they were the bee's knees
  10. I think you could still show some basic support for the cyberpunk TDM projects... you know, a bit of decorum... tip of the hat, even if you don't agree. Eh.. right?
  11. "The Dark Machine" gets my vote, for the title
  12. In layman's terms, what improvements are planned for 2.06? Keep up the good work, by the way!
  13. Welcome aboard! What led you to this far-flung corner of the interwebs? :D

I love Thief, and after some time being amazed with TDM and stalking the forum I found strength to make an account and trying to be active here.

  14. Hello Thiefette, how are you? What is your favorite Dark Mod mission? :)

Hello Carlton Troisi - My apologies for not replying sooner, but am not on much these days and am just seeing your comment. I don't know that I have a particular favorite mission, but I prefer ones with lots of loot, lots of objectives and lots of stealth. How about you?

Haha, just saw your reply now. I would say Volta and the Stone 1 + 2, both Accountants, Requiem rank high up there. I just saw your comment about getting turned around; I get lost all the time! I think I might steal your trail of breadcrumbs idea.. can't believe I haven't thought of it til now!

  15. Amnesia first, then Belle Culo?
  16. I have tried to imply before that this stuff (what you are referring to) should not be on this forum. This is not an isolated incident, it keeps going, only worse each time. All of it from a single source, at that. "It's just the truth" is the explanation they give. I think a far better explanation is some kind of compensatory egocentricity.
  17. I'm quite amazed and inspired that you continue to fix and update your mission. It shows that you are serious about your craft, and also suggests a great spirit of collaboration in the forums. Huzzah, man. I'll wait for your newest update and then try the mission as it was intended!
  18. Welcome, Mollyness! You seem to have some voice-acting talent. How did you get this good?

Thanks so much! I am actually just trying to establish myself as a voice actor so practice makes perfect :)

The life of an artist can be tough--and believe me, I know--but I wish you good luck. As long as you're passionate and willing to put in the time, you'll get there. :)

  19. Absolutely, man! Anything that would help to get around the often maze-like structure of TDM missions, would be desirable.
  20. I'm thinking of trying this mission. (Or should I wait for another update?) In any event, I'm wondering about difficulty level, especially the complexity of the map. How would this compare to The Ravine by Spoonman, for instance? That was a great map but I got lost too many times to count
  21. Soft sole, or hard soul..? Therein lies the question...
  22. I've done my best thieving with hard rubber soles...
  23. I'll admit this does seem to be the case. After reading this forum for quite some time, I tentatively reach the same conclusion. Nor am I trying to act better or "more normal," since I've got my own peculiarities.. shall spare the details for now, at any rate. But what is it about these forums that leads to this?
  24. With your last response I am honestly not sure whether to laugh, or to cry. And if I did cry, it might be a case of crocodile tears, unfortunately. But the Succubi were amazing. If only I did not have to summon and pay the fee; to have but a taste of these forbidden things without being naturally forbidden by the constraints of limited sociability.. that would be the goal.
  25. Yeah, I don't mind a succubus now and again. I've summoned them.
