  1. @Baal! Aw, thanks! Right on - I've been wanting a solid recommendation from a Thiefer / horror fan type - gonna try this ASAP. =3

I can't help but feel that that's a metaphor for life! =-P Here, this is a much smaller scale of Epic: Armageddon, same world as Warhammer 40000, but a mostly discontinued game. I just recently managed to get some Warhound Titans - which used to be super rare. Unpainted at the moment, this is my Space Wolf Army. The holes in the infantry stands are for interchangeable characters who affect the stats: Librarians, Chaplains and Commanders. Things are so expensive I couldn't afford to glue them in permanently and make multiple stands. >.> I also have an Eldar army in this scale but I'm trying to paint strip it and I'm finding it very... reluctant.
  3. Personally - I loved it - the sense of horror wore off half way through but it was worth the admission price just for the wonderful illusions of the first few hours!
  4. Great work Badcog - would love to see a new map from you! <3
  5. Yeah reading stuff from Frictional is really interesting. They have some great ideas about how they improved from Penumbra to make Amnesia.
  6. I am grinning in excitement at the thought of a poltergeist in an FM. =3
  7. Arrgh all these crypt like missions that lie in limbo... Come on mysterious mission making lurkers - I NEED MY UNDEAD FIX! =-<
  8. Please oh please let's have some horrible ghosts and poltergeist happenings! ... AND IN THE GAME
  9. I like that the Demon Queen of Spiders still has an ergonomically adjusted office chair / reception desk and a fire extinguisher in the Gaping Maw of Doom / Lobby which forms the entrance to the Spider Ship. =-P
  10. "The AI I tried making smaller stayed normal size, but his head disappeared." Gosh it's almost like reading the development notes for Dwarf Fortress... =-P
  11. That crazy chess board one fascinates me! That kind of Bonehoard thing is kind of what I'd like to see more of >.>
  12. My Dad went to Finnland - and was amazed that they sell the meat of bears there. In the supermarket he found bear soup in a can - just like we have oxtail soup in the UK. When I tried googling Bear Soup to get a picture for reference... WHAT IS SEEN CAN NEVER BE UNSEEN Apparently it's internet slang for bunch of gay hairy guys in a jacuzzi or something. APPLYING NERVE STAPLES & MIND BLEACH
  13. @Tels Sounds like you're a level designer for Amnesia: The Dark Descent! ;-P
  14. Patently Dangerous scared the crap out of me. I APPROVE. =3 Doesn't have to be revenants or werebeasts which are scary - just a sense of dread is enough to make me bounce in my seat happily. =D
  15. Great stuff Biker - you're a power house of mapping. =-D
  16. I love Fidcal's limited room idea --- could almost be an "escape the room" type puzzle with no enemies - so long as it didn't turn into a keyhunt. Or a mission without blackjacks forcing a kind of ghosting.
  17. Oh lord yes - I was going to ask if anyone had played any good Amnesia mods - browsing ModDB seemed to bring... Mixed aspirations. =-3
  18. Can't believe I hadn't voted on this one! 4 / 4 / 5 I got pretty damn frustrated for the final areas - but I couldn't honestly give it only a 3 - overall I enjoyed it far too much for that! I think the bare exterior is absolutely fine, seriously. It's what the briefing tells you to expect - a Tower people have tried to get into but it's so treacherous that no one has succeeded.
  19. @Jdude Cool - I absolutely LOVED the blowouts in Oblivion Lost, really terrifying. Any word on what mods I should use to make the other STALKER games better? I installed Clear Sky and Pripyat - I also got the Complete mod for Pripyat, but I don't know whether to bother with it straight like that. Still seems a bit rickety.
  20. @ Diego Hee! Reminds me of the robot Claptrap from Borderlands - good stuff. =3
  21. @JDude Yeah! Nehrim is in English for text and subtitles but I can't get it to work. >.> I've got Oblivion working BUT ONLY under compatibility mode. I have the latest version with all add ons on Steam - patched and then used the unofficial patch to putty up the gaps. I WANT to love this game so much. I bought it TWICE now and finally have a PC to run it (didn't fancy the Xbox version though I've owned that too!) but when I try googling around all the articles on it are ancient and outdated and I wish someone would just tell me what to do to make it prettier and less annoying! x-D === OK, listen - I have played STALKER. Finished it in the original mode on a crappy laptop with all the prettiness turned off. THEN reinstalled it with Oblivion Lost mod and was a bit bored by repeating but enjoyed the random ness so much I recompleted it. Tried reinstalling it on a brand new computer with "COMPLETE" mod and honestly was bored 10 minutes in. Would you say this "Lurk" mod is worth reinstalling again? x-D

Thanks, Diego! I'm going to make a thread in Off-Topic I think to show them off I think - especially as I finally get around painting some! I spent a HUGE amount of time over the past few months buying extra bits and pieces online and reposing them - experimenting as I've NEVER done a proper modelling project before so stumbling over hurdles like how Modelling Putty won't magically read your mind and turn out the way you want it to... ;-P I bought all this and more unassembled in January, been slowly adding to it over time, there's some more than that now and to come - but I really want to get an HQ character assembled so a full army photo doesn't have a gaping hole in the middle. =-P ======= I'm very interested to see more artwork from you over time if you'd like to share. =-3
  23. Hello all! When I try trawling ModDB for other single player mods to play around with - I find myself faced with a wall of Command & Conquer mods all trying to do similar things - space strategy games which have the Federation fighting the fucking Death Star and other stuff that makes me weep blood. There used to be a Mod Roundup over on RockPaperShotgun.com and that was pretty great for pointing me at the odd thing either released or in development but the guy who did that has moved on. What I was playing recently was the rather great Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut. This is for Half Life 1 - which shows you I'm still looking for mods even if they're of older game engines. http://www.moddb.com/mods/afraid-of-monsters ======= I've played Minerva Metastasis which is a pretty great bare bones mod for Half Life 2, ie. no new assets or enemies but tells a good story using the rhythm and storytelling you'd expect from a retail Valve release: http://www.moddb.com/mods/minerva ======= Just a couple off the top of my head I've enjoyed. I'm particularly interested in horror and action mods but I thought it'd be nice if people shared some things that might have feel into the cracks. And I might bump it with other things I've found, be they finished or work in progress mods. Apart from Human Revolution, nothing has lit my fire for gaming in a while so I thought I'd ask the Hivemind for inspiration. =-P
