  1. Very nice! Happy to see that standing-around AI thing I've been grumbling about has been fixed. Also great to see the inventory grid.
  2. Fortunately I've heard some VAs I really admire say the same sort of things at times. "All I can hear are mistakes". So it's as you say, even for pros. That's what I like to hear! I was afraid I'd got through half of it already
  3. It's funny. I hear myself speak every single day, yet hearing myself Voice ActTM is slightly uncomfortable and weird, like how it is the first time you hear yourself recorded. Heheh. I've got other VA bits in missions coming out sooner or later as well.
  4. This is absolutely wonderful! It's just the kind of thing I've been wanting for years in either NewDark or TDM, and I can't thank you enough for going ahead and making it
  5. Welp, here's my first video. Goofed around too much and got into some trouble at first, but things are looking good so far.
  6. Here is my playthrough. I feel bad that I don't think I honored its atmosphere/mood enough. The teleport-to-black-and-looks-like-a-freeze thing sort of put me in the wrong place mentally, I think, so I ended up maybe not being quite in the immersed state of mind, I guess. Still it was a good story and a cool surreal little mission. I thought the main character was interesting too actually. Not your typical Garrett-type who just happily steals everything not tied down and doesn't care, but something a little different. Always neat to see. Incidentally, I didn't find the fourth ending.
  7. I keep trying to explain about focus, how my eyes may be looking somewhere else than your eyes, and how occupying one's brain with speech - and thinking about what to say next - can and does cause attention-split between the game and the talk, and blah blah blah, but nobody seems to ever acknowledge me. :\ Also you guys know where the arrow is beforehand and I don't. But that's how let's plays are. "let's playing" is not "playing". You watch a blind LP, you'll get moments like that. I think "argh, come on dude" all the time when I watch LPs, but I don't go into the comments and give the player a hard time, because a) I understand how it is, and b ) really, how helpful is it? So I missed something, I apologize, it happens. I'm not perfect, it's blind and I don't know where stuff is. I'm not psychic either. I can't just automatically know there's something almost pitch black and thin hiding in a dark corner I can barely see. And, I repeat and emphasize, a screen is a huge area and if I'm looking even slightly off of where you're looking I may not see what you see. Plus I have to focus on talking, while you the viewers don't have to. Anyhow, I'm a hypocrite because here I am explaining why you should stop letting annoying things bother you, whereas I'm letting annoying things bother me. So I guess I'm done with my spiel.
  8. Yeah, it's happened occasionally, but I was never able to reproduce it. Since I didn't/don't have any more information than just "it happens every once in a while", I figured a report wouldn't be much help.
  9. For those that don't find me annoying, I'm doing a play here: Otherwise, carry on
  10. I'd like to give back to you guys in some way if I can. An entire voice set sounds like a bit too much to chew though. Just because I can do a decent soundalike off-the-cuff during readables doesn't mean I can do grunts, screams and death noises, or even act for that matter
  11. I decided to try this myself, while also testing the effects of overclocking. My CPU is an i7 3770K and my drives are the following, from slowest to fastest: HDD: Western Digital Red 2 TB, 5400 RPM (WD20EFRX-68EUZN0) SSD: Intel X25-M G2 160 GB (SSDSA2M160G2GC) RAM disk: 4 GB DDR3-1600 using Dataram RAMDisk Lite I tested with Requiem and measured the time from clicking "Start Mission" until the "Press 'Attack' to start" screen. The results: 3770K, stock (fluctuated between 3.7 and 3.9 GHz while loading) HDD: ~1:42 SSD: ~1:25 RAM disk: ~1:23 3770K, OC'd to 4.4 GHz steady HDD: ~1:30 SSD: ~1:12 RAM disk: ~1:10 4.4 GHz is as high as it would go without getting into settings I'm not familiar with, plus I'm running low-airflow-for-silence cooling on an Ivy Bridge so I wouldn't want to take it much higher anyway. But anyway, in each case, the overclock still knocked 12-13 seconds off the load time. Pretty good. Still pretty long though... but overclocking (or just a faster CPU) definitely helps. And again the RAM disk is barely any faster than even my extremely old SSD (circa late 2009), so yeah. [edits: whoops, I wrote down the wrong CPU... ]
  12. That's brilliant, I've been looking for something like this too. Thanks
  13. Did I have a rough start? I guess if by "rough" you mean "I suck at the game" then sure It's been a long and awkward road for me and The Dark Mod, but I'm finally starting to seriously enjoy it. And holy crap, my first TDM vid was in February 2012... I've come a long way from calling the non-pausing books "the worst feature ever implemented in any game ever" More relevantly, I'm really loving this mission. I guess I'm not that far through yet(?) but things keep getting more interesting the further I go, so I'm always looking forward to playing more!
  14. I think I see where I was going wrong before. I'll have to test my understanding in the next video though.
  15. And I thought that was just a throwaway line that wasn't very funny But seriously, thanks guys. I know I can't please everyone, there's going to people who like my style and those who don't. And I hope more people start recording TDM plays as well so there can be more styles for different tastes, and different perspectives on the game and so forth.
  16. I don't have the patience for betatesting. Playing a mission once and pointing out what I happen to see is one thing, but playing it over and over and being really thorough and all that, well, I'd rather just play it normally *shrug*
  17. I was writing a big post here cause I've got tons to say on the matter (and excited to say it ) but I actually think I'd like to make a video about it instead. (later today)
  18. Alright, cool. It's just that text-cut-off thing in T1/2 gives me nightmares, I have to go back and forth between the game and the text file to fix it all up then save it back in the zip, it's horribly... mildly... inconvenient. Anyway, yeah, I wasn't sure because most times in T1/2 the author will put some indication that it's supposed to be an excerpt, so it threw me off a bit. Although, that does break the fourth wall bit, so hm. edit: I should have added this to my last post instead of posting another. Oops.
