  1. Alright, the forum has successfully been upgraded to IPB version 2.2.2. If you have any comments, bug reports, suggestion or general feedback, post it here. IMPORTANT: Since a lot of the client-script files have been updated it is mandatory to empty your cached files from this forum. You can either empty your browser cache if you want to (check the settings), or you can do a hard refresh (this is usually done by holding the Ctrl-button while you hit 'Refresh'). Cheers, ~m2
  2. Hi. In my map I've used the texture numberwheel_wood, located in Other Materials in the Media browser. It seems to work just fine, like any other texture, in-game too. But I've noticed that it does not show up in the Texture Browser like the other textures I have used. I've tryed with other textures from the Other Materials folder and they dont show in the Texture Browser either. Should I be concerned about that? I'm using Thief's Den ressources btw. Jesps
  3. I politely asked John P that since he didn't have time to help us out, that we could use his assets that he created for Thief DS. He courteously assented. Here is his email to me: My only concern at this point is whether or not his assets are usable (which I personally think they are), but also whether they infringe on any copyrights, but since Eidos holds the copyrights not Ion Storm, I might ask their permission. Although, as John pointed out, the textures are "based" on original assets created by the Ion Storm team, so that needs to be taken into account. I'm sure you guys have already discussed this at great length, but I was playing Thief 3 with his texture pack as few days ago, and thought that it is such a waste that hardly anybody is going to see his work, and that it would be a good opportunity to get our hands on some finished (and dare I say, professional) assets. Please leave any comments and/or thoughts.
  4. Composer to composer forum @ finalemusic: http://acf.finalemusic.com/ This fairly new & isn't very busy at all. http://www.music-web.org/forum/index.php Better organized & a lot busier. So this would be a great place to introduce ourselves It has music theory, composition showcase, music encyclopedia, & more.
  5. cool i knew brown barn spiders are worth something.
  6. I'm sorry this took so long, but I've just restored the forums from a backup I took on saturday. The forums were 'hacked' by a script-kiddie yesterday. I saw in the admin logs that he logged in with one of the admin accounts (probably after 'guessing' the password with some brute force script). He then edited all of the admin accounts and removed their access to the admin control panel (acp). Then he edited the forum description and wrote a text saying we would get acp access back for the total amount of $100. Right. Anyway, since I had to restore a backup of the database, some posts/threads/PM's and new users were wiped, but I couldn't do anything with that. I don't think this guy did anything other than removing the admin powers and editing the forum description when he was in the acp (all operations in the acp is logged), and he had no access to download the database. But just in case I urge you to change your password on this forum, and other sites where you've got the same account name and password. It's better to be safe than sorry. All admins are instructed to change their passwords to a hard-to-guess one. The password should; not contain any words found in a dictionary contain atleast 8 characters or more consist of characters, numbers and signs in a good mix consist of both lower- and uppercase characters/signs Also, always LOG OUT after you're done in the admin cp, and don't click on links in threads when logged into the admin cp. If an intruder fetches your cookie, he can access the admin cp. All admins have lost their acp access. They will get it back once they have changed their password. Please PM Fingernail when you have changed your password. Also, the acp is .htaccess protected with a username/password, and I've given the login info to Fingernail.
  7. No idea if the quality this Tree Maker produces is of any use for Dark Mod or maybe you already know about it but if not, take a look HERE. If quality is low maybe it still can be used for distance views?
  8. What do you texture experts think of this use of stretching textures for large scale non-tiling in some situations? I was just experimenting with colours for my steps and wanted a light background so used the same tile from the steps (textures/darkmod/stone/sculpted/carved_tiles01_x4_light) and stretched it with 'fit'. Immediately I'm thinking 'snow'. I have made no attempt to shift the texture along and it's just as it accidentally fell but it gives an impressions of drifts and faded paths. If an accident like this can look OK then a custom made texture should look better. Is it just me or does anyone else think this idea useable? At least in the distance surely? But I think it's good enough close up. And this is a flat brush. Imagine it spread over patches in drifts etc.
  9. You don't want the Church of England complaining that you've inspired thieves to break in to their buildings!
  10. Jeez, I'm really loving the forum community for TDM. I mean, the replies I get for my topic is damn amazing. I jus post a topic asking about a release date, and I get 50 replies talking about wether or not we should add a bloody sword to the game(I personally think you should, as it came in handy when I got cornered). And im getting tired of people saying "If you get caught, or if you run out of flashbangs to use to run away with you dont even deserve to be playing the game" or something like that, I mean, not everybody spends so much time playing a damn stealth game so that they never ever get caught, plus a sword, and (my favourite weapon by far in any theif games) the bow, added more replayability, so you could always replay the game and just try to rampage through the level, or sneak, but be a bit more brutal, using the aggression to pick off your enemies in the dark with the sword, or bow, or (I almost forgot another useful tool) the blackjack. If theres one this that I dont like about the forums its that I cant figuire out how to reply in a topic... or maybe thats just my problem for being so stupid, but either way, can somebody please tell me before I have to start a new thread everytime I want to say something?!
  11. After some fund raising we were able to get a IPB perpetual license which makes us able to upgrade from an unsecure 1.3.x board to a fully updated 2.0.4 board. Feel free to poke around and look at the new features etc. The skin is reset to the default IPB one, because the old one won't work on this version. We'll get working on it ASAP. Happy posting!
  12. I just bought a little digital camera and I was wondering what I have to do to collect textures for eventual use in modelling. I'm sure its more involved than just snapping a few close ups of a brick wall, or is it? Philly has lots of good old buildings and such.
  13. I am building a low-end/mid-range PC with a target price of $550. My goal is to build something that will be satisfactory for the time being, but substantially upgradable in the future. So far, I think I've done pretty well (much more credit to those on the steam forums and hardware IRC channels that have assisted me), but I'm trying to get as much input as possible. Therefore, if my fellow DarkModders would be so kind as to analyze the configuration I have below, your criticisms would be very welcome . Total: $553 In addition, what are your opinions on cheap vs. expensive Power Supply Units? Do I really need to spend >70 to get a quality PSU? I'm seeing the same stats of $90 units on $50 units, but I'm warned that the $50 units are prone to die and kill your whole system. And then there are others that say the $50 units are perfectly fine--even for a person who plans on making a substantial upgrade in the future. One part of me wants to go for a $50 unit--in place of a $90, and spend the difference on a higher quality video card, and the other part of me wants to ensure stability and upgradability for the future. I'm torn to say the least.. Also, how much of a difference is there between CAS2 and CAS2.5 DDR ram? Thanks
  14. Are we designing our animations using these channels?
  15. Anyone know anything troubleshoot-specific for renderbump? I can seem to get renderbumpflat to work just fine, it generates what seems to be a mask in one file, and a nice flat normalmap in the other. However, renderbump consistently gives me results like this: renderbump \models\darkmod\props\containers\crate03.lwo ----- Renderbump \models\darkmod\props\containers\crate03.lwo ----- surface 0, shader tdm_crate02 renderBump = (no action) 0.39 seconds for renderBump ---------- RenderBump Completed ---------- It looks like it aborts before anything even starts. There are no images dumped anywhere. I've tried it with a bunch of different LWOs, the one above being a simple crate. These are the untouched TDM-ready versions, so I assume they're all set up with whatever texture coord info it needs. http://www.iddevnet.com/doom3/bumpmaps.php
  16. Since we have now three models to choose from, for the lightgem, I suggest we vote on which on to take. We can also provide the other ones as alternatives, so that players can switch them if they like). Since they are already done we can just as well use them. No need to throw them away as they all look very nice. The voting just will decide which one we should use as the official one, which means it will show up on screenshots and in our campaing (if we do one). Oofnish's model: Oddity's model: Atti's model:
