'Garrett' as first name is becoming more popular in recent years, at least in the US. Every few weeks I hear about some kid named Garrett. I usually think, "how cool is that."

I've always taken it to be the Thief character's first name. As spoken in cutscenes, addressing each other in personal conversation (e.g. the meeting in the woods):

"Garrett."

"Victoria!"

The scene would be a bit strange if only one was a first name, and the other, surname:

"Schwartz."

"Victoria!"

Regarding the popularity of the name Garrett, there is also a character by that name in the "Garrett: P.I." series of books by Glen Cook. The series is called "Die Rätsel von Karenta" in the German translation, if anyone is wondering. The Garrett in the books is not unlike The Thief, a bit of a cynic, but ultimately not a bad person.

My Eigenvalue is bigger than your Eigenvalue.

Maybe best then to leave it as a single, ambiguous name like Garrett. Those who see it as a family name - that's OK and those who see it as a familar, personal name then that's OK too. And as said, Mr. Farrell can be regarded as familiar like Mr. Frodo or impersonal like Mr. Baggins.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
