Anyone using path_follow_actor?

I couldn't find any published missions that use path_follow_actor.

Is anyone using this in an unpublished mission, or is planning to use it?

I tried it today for the first time, with a guard following a noble lady. Since the lady walks slowly, the guard follows using stutter-steps, then invariably is in the way if the lady stops, stands for a moment, then reverses her path. Going through doors is funny to watch, since (I think) the guard is torn between handling the door and keeping up with the lady.

I wondered how others might be using this, and what its original purpose was?

I think it (at least) needs some touch-up to match the walking speeds, though I'm not sure how slowing down a guard's natural gait is going to look. And a follower needs to correctly deal with doors. The follower is kept ~60 units away from the target, which means the follower isn't going to be told about a door by pathfinding until the target has crossed the door's threshold, which is way too late for proper door handling.

I can solve my problem a different way, so this isn't a big deal. But if others are planning to use it, I might have to fix these problems.

Thanks.

To my knowledge, this is being used in "the campaign". The usage seems similar to your example so if you can improve it you probably should. Greebo and Fidcal should be able to clarify further...

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.
